Needle sizing can be confusing for beginners as well as experienced knitters. Numbering systems are arbitrary. The key is to understand your unique knitting style so that you naturally grab needles that are comfortable no matter what size number is assigned to it.

What’s On My Needles
Samples of our new warm weather yarns started showing up this week. I ended up with a rather large pile of laceweight yarns. Just what I need, a long list of lace projects. My method for handling knitting overload is to assign projects to yarn and then write the list in my Moleskine notebook. It’s sort of a release of pressure so that I don’t leap into getting a bunch of projects started before actually finishing a few things.
My Aran cardigan is coming along very nicely. A quiet, sunny weekend was ideal for knitting. Of course, I think any weather is good for knitting.
