Remember my post on color picking last month? Well, I just finished the hat with the colors I chose.

The five colors of Main Line I was considering were Adobo, Harbor, Steel, Cypress, and Oregano. Only 4 would make it into the hat. Ultimately, I eliminated Oregano. Then was the issue of which color would be the main color. At first I went with Steel, but it ended up washing out the other colors, so that I wasn't getting enough Adobo love, so I ripped it out and changed the main color to Adobo. Here's a view of the crown:

The pattern is one I made up using a spiraling 1 row stripe technique that I wanted to try from Grumperina's blog. For Christmas I made my husband a Jayne hat with earflaps at his request (any Firefly fans out there?), and though the hat looks ridiculous, I found myself jealous of his warm ears on our dog walks this spring.

Speaking of dogs, since our Weimaraner, Duncan, was right there at the photoshoot, we couldn't resist trying the hat on him...

Heehee. He looks like a rasta dog! It's a little big on him though, so I think I'll be keeping the hat for myself.

I asked Dan if he wanted a Jayne-dork hat, and he politely said no, but that he *would* take some little plastic dinosaurs. "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!"

It's from one episode near the end of the series where Jayne's mom sends him a dorky hat, and he wears it the whole episode. There's a whole group devoted to it on Ravelry here.

I'm a HUGE Firefly fan. I'm trying to picture the hat with flaps though and i can't.

Aw, Duncan is so cute! I think he needs bigger ear flaps though, his ears are sticking out just a little.
Love the hat! The colors look amazing together.
