PurlGirl's Blog – August 2008 Archive (6)

I spent a little time today, not a lot as we didn't have power most of the day due to construction, researching steeks. My next project is going to be a V-neck vest done in the round with steeks for the set-in sleeve and neck openings. I am rewriting the pattern from this fall's KnitSimple. It seems like it should work, as long as I figure out how to pick uo the stitches for the ribbing along the arm holes and neck. I'm using KnitPick's Andean Silk.

August 19, 2008

We took a little trip up North this weekend to Northern VT, across Lake Champlain, then down through the Adirondaks of NY. A quick trip, much sitting in the car, beautifully scenery though. DH was in a hurry to get back to buy DD's notebook computer at Microcenter, so we came home via Mass Pike. Oh, that's sooo not relaxing. Anyway, I am proud to say that I survived the weekend without my knitting. I decided from the get-go that I wouldn't bring it… Continue

A Day at the New England Aquarium

This has nothing to do with knitting, in fact, I didn't even bring it with me! Just had a great time looking at fish with my kids. This was part 1 of our… Continue

August 12, 2008 Knitpicks Blogs

I have to get something off my chest. I want to say I am a little disappointed that more people don't use the blogs on this Knitpicks Community. I don't use Ravelry, personally, so I can't comment on that, but I don't see the point of joining a community that you aren't going to use. I thought it would be fun to see what other people are doing, but out of 5000+ members, it just seems like most people list their ravelry ID and don't use the blog. Well, I hope someday to establish more comraderie… Continue

August 11, 2008

After a successful and totally mind-occupying week of VBS last week, I'm getting back on track. First order of business: Clean House! Next, clean car, and get ready for mini-vacation this coming weekend! I did get a little knitting in this weekend as a reward for all of my hard work: in the car on the way to and from New Hampshire Saturday for a cookout, and yesterday some R & R after putting away all of… Continue

August 2, 2008

I received my order of new needle tips from Knitpicks today! I guess I was getting spoiled with fast needles with my sock needles, so with 3 sweaters of yarn on hand, I couldn't even bear to swatch without some nickle plated knitpicks Options needles. I ordered 7-10's as I am usually a tight knitter and I am currently working on Christmas stocking #3 which uses a #10 needle. I really really should be working on my lines for VBS, but I needed a little stress reduction the past couple of… Continue
