So...I was moving right along on my Avery baby sweater. I had the perfect pattern, perfect yarn, perfect recipient!

My goal was Earth Day - April 22 - and lo and behold, at 11:30pm April 21 I bound off! Of course my son was… Continue

In print!

All the way back in February Angela, Christy, the photographers and I spent the morning at Zupan's market in SE Portland doing a photo shoot for a Montavilla Market Tote ad that was to run in the Summer 09 issues of Interweave, Knit N Style & Creative Knitting.… Continue

Simply Cotton KAL

Just in time for Earth Day, I've started a knitalong with our new organic simply cotton!

I'm knitting a sweater for my fourteen month old out of Simply Cotton Worsted. I think this yarn is perfect for baby knits because it is super soft, machine washable and comes in four fabulous natural… Continue

I need to pick a pattern

I'm hoping to have a sweater knit out of our new Simply Cotton for my son by Earth Day! I can't make up my mind which pattern I want to use, or which color to knit it in. I'm leaning towards either Malted Milk or Ginger. (I accept stains as a part of childhood, so I'm not too concerned about a light color for a 1-year-old boys sweater.)…

New look, a little late...

It's old news now, but a little while back we decided to freshen up the look of our knitting community. We wanted it to have more of a community feel, so they asked me to design a new banner and change the colors around.

A new banner sounded exciting, so I quickly got to work googling images for inspiration. Thanks to flickr and ravelry there are tons of great knitting shots, but surprisingly the best image I found for my purposes was a stock photo!…

New Scarf!

I'm the proud owner of a new, light and airy woven scarf, thanks to my lovely husband. He bought it from Etsy "Your place to buy and sell all things handmade."

I'm blogging about it because the talented… Continue

The other side of the craft room

It's not all knitting all the time over here at Knit Picks HQ. Sometimes we squeeze in some quilting as well. Melissa and I design quilting fabric for our sister site, Connecting Threads. A few months ago some of us "more youthful quilters" thought it would be fun to design FREE small projects that would appeal to a younger… Continue

What to do?

A little while back, Kelley destashed a LOT of yarn. I saw these discs of Palette

just waiting to be used in some lovely colorwork project. While not really my colors, they seemed to go together well. And with all the greys, I thought I could make a hat for my patient husband (shown below, hatless)

Now the question is what pattern?… Continue

Sneak peek...

Now that Imagination is about to come out (see Melissa's post here) I can finally show you what I was working on for what seemed like forever

Not the baby! (though he took a while, too). The scarf! It's the Chevron Scarf from Last-Minute Knitted… Continue

Too clownish?

I finished the baby hat.

I think it turned out pretty well. My husband thinks it's a bit clownish.

But the baby doesn't seem to mind.

I finished it just in the nick of time, too. We were at the park Sunday. It started out warm, but by the time we were getting ready to walk home it had turned cold. Too cold for a… Continue

Baby hat

Here's a hat on working on for the baby in Felici Provence. It's got bobbles between rounds of reverse stockinette around the bottom, and then just plain stockinette up to the decreases. We had a long meeting this morning, so I was able to get a good 1" done, and now you can really see the stripes. In my last post I said I thought it was looking a bit… Continue

Here I am!!

Hello everyone. I've been putting off blog posting for long enough. I had excuses before, but now I'm back at work and ready to go.

10 weeks ago (February 26th) I gave birth to my adorable son. I was on maternity leave until a few weeks ago. It's been tough being away from him all day, but it's a teeny-tiny bit kind of nice to be back at work, too.

Here's the baby in a Baby Surprise Jacket I made for him. This was before I added buttons…
