Raspberry Coffee Cake and Shepard Pie

It has been really cold here in MN. For the last week I have been working like crazy. I had the day off today. So I made the most of it. I met a friend at the local bookstore coffee shop and we sat and knitted for a couple of hours. It was very pleasant. When I came home I decided to actually fix a dinner instead of having a bowl of cereal. I made Shepard Pie which is so unbelievablely easy. I was also very tasty. I made a Raspberry Coffe Cake for breakfast. Since I leave so early in the… Continue

I have frogged my socks AGAIN. I was going along nicely on someting out of the Sensational socks book by Charlene Schurch. Well kind of. Long story short, my yarn overs before a purl stitch seem to be much bigger then my yarn overs before a knit stitch. Only I don't see it till the next row when I either knit it or purl it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've gone back to my reference book. (The Knit Stitch and The Purl Stitch both by Sally Melville) and it seems that I am doing it right.… Continue

Frogging....It's a knitting thing

I decided the Cookie A socks I was knitting just weren't working for me. To begin with the leg was a little tight, which means they wouldn't be very comfortable. I had already added one extra pattern repeat. Adding another would have made them to big. I did the heal turn and that was okay. I did the heal cup and that was okay. I even did alright on the picking up of stitches. I ran into problems with the foot part. I was working on two circ and I just could find a way to place the stitches that… Continue

Where have I been???

Well it's been awhile since I've posted a blog, but that doesn't mean I haven't been knitting. I have been very busy this summer. My grammy died which really kind of put a sink hole in my life. I've moved into my own apartment. First time I've ever lived by myself. It's a little scary, but I will be getting my dog on Thursday. I'm very excited about this. Also I've been working a bit of some overtime, Plus spending quite a bit of time with Mr. Man (which is always nice, and not that I'm… Continue

A Tribute

My grammy died on Wednesday. The funeral is Sunday. I miss her a lot. She was a great lady. She taught me how to make her cheesecake, meatloaf, chocolate fudgebar cake and to fry chicken. She was very independant. She stayed home and raised 4 kids. She didn't go to work until my mother (her youngest) was well into her teens. She always made me feel loved no matter what happened. I will miss you Grammy. I know you are in a better place. Be at peace.

Lace knitting

I started the Peacock Feathers Lace from Fiddlesticks Knitting shawl last weekend. I have 45 rows out of 259 done. This is by far the most complicated piece of knitting I have ever done. I think the stitches are pretty easy, but I really have to pay attention to what I am doing. It's all using charts which I have never really done before. However, since I've got quite a bit of knitting under my belt and have done some complex cabling, the charting actually does make sense to me and I can follow… Continue

A New Car !!!!!

Well it finally happened. After all this stress I finally got a new car. Well new to me anyway. It's a PT cruiser. And it's purple. My very favorite color. Yeah!!! I picked it up on Monday. I love this car. My boyfriend has already changed the oil and the antifreeze for me. He actually did that when we brought it home on Monday. On Tuesday, he cleaned and polished it for me. Then he bought a ghost flame (They are silver and not orange) decal for me and put that on Tuesday as well. Then he… Continue

It's Finally Done

The St. Alban's Valentine Scarf is finally done!!! I just have to block it. I am so excited. I loved knitting this scarf, but I'm glad to finish it. I will have to get pictures posted after I block it. I have some other cabled scarves picked out from this designer as well. Only this time I really want to use the City Tweed in the DK weight. I can just picture it so clearly in my mind how great that would look. Of course that one would be for me. This has also inspired me to pull out some of… Continue

Thankgoodness for Knitting!!!!!

This last week has been a bit stressful. As I've stated before, I have been saving up and in the market for a new car. Now I will admit, my credit is not perfect. (I won't go into the details why.) However, it is improving. So not having perfect credit, is the reason why I have been saving up for a substantial down payment. Anyway, I thought I had a bit more time. Unforetunatly life rarely works out the way we plan. My car died on Wednesday morning. Among the other problems it had, the fuel… Continue

Why do I do this to myself????

Why do I keep adding on knitting projects when I am trying so diligently to finish my UFO's? I mean seriously people what happened to self discipline. I have a cable scarf that needs to be finished. It was suppose to be finished months ago. Plus I have to get started on my mother's lace shawl. She has been patiently waiting a year for that. Althought I have knit her one pair of socks and have another on the needles, plus a scarf. But still. Anyway you may be wondering what I have done. I… Continue

It's a sock thing

I really love sock knitting. Which is really pretty amazing since I don't care for knitting with double pointed needles. So if it hadn't been for knitting with two circulares, I would be missing out on sock knitting. I just recently tried the knitting on one circular. I have mixed feelings about it. Now grante it's not the options needles, but they are suppose to be a high quality needles and cable. I love using one circ on larger projects like mittens. However, on the smaller projects like… Continue

Just another knitting day

I would just like to start off by saying, I think those fruit and veggie bags on the knitpicks home page are absolutely adorable. I probably won't be knitting any, but they are oh so cute. I also cannot wait until the new spring colors come out, I won't be getting any soon, but I do get excited when the new color ways come out. I like to get excited over the little things. Keeps life interesting.

I've come down with a little bit of a cold. It's not too bad. Probably because of…

It was nice to see everyone. My oldest sister and her family was there. As was my brother and his family and my niece and her family. Not to mention Mom and Dad. It was a very pleasant was to spend a birthday. I ended up leaving to head home a little later then I planned but that was okay. Well about 2 hours from home I got… Continue

No luck on the picture

Well I have not been able to figure out how to email from my phone a picture of my cable scarf. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but I've tired sending it twice and I think it's just going out there into space. Sorry just going to have to wait till the computer is up and running on the internet to get a picture posted. On a happy note, Mr. Man was able to get the internet working on my computer as long as I'm hardwired into a router. The wireless router that we bought is the culprit that isn't… Continue

Snow again!

Well, it's snowing a bit here again in Minnesota. Yeah shocker I know. My day is going to consist of running to the grocery store, then getting some chilli in the crockpot. A couple of pots of tea and of course knitting. All day! I've noticed the Knitting Olympics have started. I would love to participate in something like this, but I know I would not ever get anything done that quickly other then a pair of mittens or maybe a sock ( I haven't gotten the two socks at one time thing going yet)…

A Knitting Day

Of course I think everyday should be a knitting day, but that is just me. Anyway, I didn't get hardly any knitting done yesterday. I got a call from the wonderful Mr. Man asking for help to clean his bedroom and go through his closet. HIs bedroom has been a bit of a storage area as opposed to strictly a sleeping area. Well of course I couldn't turn him down. I mean he did ask nicely. That actually took a large part of the afternoon and evening. By the time I got back home it was a bit late for… Continue

A nice day off

So my morning started off with a nice cup of white chocolate and raspberry mocha. I go old school on my espresso. I like the stove top espresso that I have. My espresso never turns out bitter. I also have a little express electric kettle thingy. It's plastic with a nonstick heating element. It not only heat up water in a flash, but will also heat up milk quite nicely. Which is way better then heating it in the microwave and burning my fingers on the mug. Not the mention the mess I made in…
