Hi, my dear friends around the globe!
I just thought to update you on the latest developments here to explain why you may not hear from me too regularly in the next two weeks at least.
News: I had a motorbike accident this morning on my way to work (low speed, thankfully) with the other driver leaving the scene of the accident before anybody could take the number. To cut a long story short, I have damaged my tendons in my shoulder and am moving only very awkwardly at the moment.…

Hi, everyone!
Seeing my last blog is over a month old, I thought to update you on..... well, actually nothing. Like everywhere, work's been manic and quite stressful, actually. And for another month it's going to be very taxing, too. Some high profile projects and staff shortages are really taxing us, as if life as such wasn't difficult enough.
But that's enough "moanage" for now. It's the same everywhere, and moaning doesn't change a thing. And haven't we all got a 100%…

It's really weird. Last week I've finished my mum in law's shawl (see the picture of the Crystal Lake shawl in my pictures).
Since then I've wrecked my brain what to knit next. A baby blanket would be lovely. And I've got some nice patterns & yarn, too. But nobody I know is pregnant right now, so not much use (we don't have kids ourselves). So I've now started a sweater for myself, with a pair of socks for my DH on the go as well (for when I want something to just knit away at without…

Quick update - Just added a picture of the Crystal Lake Shawl to my page. I must say, I'm usually very disappointed with the quality of my pictures. Must talk to my DH to see if he can do better than me. The picture doesn't do the shawl justice at all (and that's not to boast, the pattern is so wonderful). It's knitted with Sirdar Blur yarn (in white, so it goes with everything), which is 70% acrylic and 30% kid mohair. The yarn was asking for 5.5mm needles, but I actually used 5mm needles,…

Can't believe I did it, but I just finished another project, the shawl for my mum in-law. I started it two weeks ago and can't believe I've already finished it. And it's absolutely lovely. I'll add a picture of this later today. If you check out my ravelry site, look out for the Crystal Lake shawl (but I'll put the pics out here as well). Now I'm trying to finish my lacy Scoop Neck sweater as well. I've only got one sleeve to do and sew it up. Let's see how we go.
After that? Not…

It's nearing the end of the 3rd month of this year and I'm making progress, slowly but surely. Just added a few more projects from this year on my Ravelry ID. Monday I'll start the shawl for my mum in-law. Not quite sure how I'll do, but I'll give it my all.
Work is still like living on a time bomb, but I'm afraid I know I'm not alone in this. So my knitting at this moment in time serves multiple purposes. First of all, it calms me down and gives me peace when I so dearly need it.…

Well, I guess this turns out to be a "confessional". But also very educational. I've known for long that I'm far too undisciplined and that this usually works against me. Late last year / early this year I've finally decided I'm going to do something about it.
And beginning March I finally signed up for Ravelry (seeing everyone is so enthused about it, so I wanted to know what all the fuss is about) and started logging my projects, my stash etc. I bought some new stash recently. And…

It dawned on me last night when "surveying my new stash" in my mind and all of a sudden calm came over me. I have around 5 kilos of yarn or more in my stash now and 6 projects lined up, got another project (the green sweater on my pics) back from my best friend Sue because it's too slim for her (and she is so thin!!!) to frog it and knit it a bit wider (maybe with some nicer cuffs).
All of a sudden, calm came over me, no more "I gotta do this, then that, then I can buy more yarn", but calm…

Another success - or rather two.
Success #1: I have new stash - WOHEEEE
My wonderful husband finally acknowledged how well I have done knitting up most of my stash so far. I do have another two or three yarns left over, but I don't yet know what to make of it. Somehow I look at the yarn and am absolutely lost about a nice pattern for it - or even the remotest idea of WHAT I want to make of it. Now that's not me. Most of the time I've got more projects in my mind than my…

WOHEE, the test project is finished - and it's looking good! Real proud of it, but no pics taken (yet). Now I've started the same pattern "for real" in a nice rust coloured cotton yarn. It's similar to what you would use knitting dish cloths I think, but it'll be wonderful for summer, when you don't want to have anything too sticky or hot to wrap up in.
And surprisingly we have a little bit of money to spare (even being very conservative with our budget). So I was allowed to spend…

Just thought to share something with you.
Another thing has me giggling for days now whenever I think of it. Last weekend I finally got up the guts to start on getting stuff together to learn how to knit a shawl in lace pattern (see "another test project" blog). Never done much lace knitting and usually made a right dog's dinner of it.
So I went to my wonderful better half, showed him the pattern and asked him what he thought of it and would it suit me. Well, he got his…

Hi, everyone! Just thought I'd share about another something I'm trying. I found out last year that I really stink reading lace patterns. Yet I've got some nice Patons yarn that just asks for being knitted into a lovely scarf / wrap. As it's a little boucle-ish and makes the pattern hard to read, I didn't want to start knitting a lace scarf with it straight away. I do tend to get discouraged easily. So my wonderful husband let me by two balls of acrylic yarn last weekend so I could have a go at…

Wow, was this a challenging week! But I keep saying that. Well, weekend is here and I can kick back and do what I want, not what I have to or should do. Pure bliss. I know this sounds selfish, but ME time gives me the opportunity to recharge for the next week, which will be at least as bad as last week.
Just loaded another picture. That's one of my favourite sweaters. The colour pattern reminds me of a peaceful jeans-coloured cow (LOVE cows, having grown up in Holland). I knitted it…

Alright, so it's well in the second month of this year and I'm not doing as well as I was hoping I would. I've started the fingerless gloves. Well, maybe I should say glove. There is no 's' in it yet because I've hauled it back and fro on my daily commute, then had the DPNs slip out of the glove. So I have one glove with one thumb and two fingers. I guess, the other two fingers will have to freeze, same as the other hand - for now :)
Instead, I'm pushing to finish the second short sleeved…

Finally been disciplined enough to actually take the pictures of my projects started and finished this week and add them to my page. Admittedly, they (the pictures) are not star quality, but hey, that's just tough.
The socks were made with some yarn I was given by my mum in law for my birthday 2007. I had never done socks before, and lo and behold I found a nice and easy sock pattern in my knitting mag shortly after. So I had a crack at it and WOPEE now my hubby loves his socks and…

Alright, let's see how this works. Never been much of a blogger, but SO PROUD !
The year is 3 weeks old now and on the weekend I've already finished 3 projects I started this year, with another one hopefully being completed tonight. All I now need to learn is a) where is the camera, b) how to take pictures (good ones!) with it and c) how to get them loaded up on my page. But I know I'll get there.
Thanks to a dear friend on this site I've now started a pair of fingerless…
