How does yarn know what pattern is right for it or not?

I've got a theory, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Any yarn "knows" what pattern is right for it and what isn't. And when you get more and more into knitting, you'll get to "understand" what the yarn is "telling" you.

Now, I know this sounds crazy. But seeing that I'm called Krackers (instead of "madwoman") by my colleagues at work (and I'm not afraid of using it now, either), I'll just digress on this a little, if you bear with me.

At the moment, I'm quite into… Continue

Just HAD to try...

Right, so my tendents in the right shoulder are overstretched by my motorbike accident on Monday, but I can use the rest of the arm as long as I hold my shoulder still. Hm, let me think. Knitting surely won't harm my shoulder, will it (blush).

I think I've been naughty today, but I really HAD to try. When my mum taught me to knit, she taught me the way SHE knits - the continental way (seeing I'm contimental, too, LOL). Well, with that method (or at least the way I'm knitting),… Continue

Involuntary knitting break - UPDATE

Good news, YEHAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW! Saw the doc today and heard I will NOT need surgery. The tendents are "only" overstretched, not damaged or torn. So I'll be in a sling for at least for 3 weeks, see the doc again then and ... we'll see what else. But it will mean I won't be well before 6 more weeks have passed. But all being well, with all deep bruising having healed of maybe next week, I might be able to carefully knit again - nothing big, but I'm sure I'll find something to do… Continue

Taking a break for a while - involutarily

Hi, my dear friends around the globe!

I just thought to update you on the latest developments here to explain why you may not hear from me too regularly in the next two weeks at least.

News: I had a motorbike accident this morning on my way to work (low speed, thankfully) with the other driver leaving the scene of the accident before anybody could take the number. To cut a long story short, I have damaged my tendons in my shoulder and am moving only very awkwardly at the moment.… Continue

Spring is here but it seems to be out of my step ...

Hi, everyone!

Seeing my last blog is over a month old, I thought to update you on..... well, actually nothing. Like everywhere, work's been manic and quite stressful, actually. And for another month it's going to be very taxing, too. Some high profile projects and staff shortages are really taxing us, as if life as such wasn't difficult enough.

But that's enough "moanage" for now. It's the same everywhere, and moaning doesn't change a thing. And haven't we all got a 100%… Continue
