I have been terrible at taking pictures and blogging about finished projects. I really, really have been knitting as much as ever, and here is a little proof. This is my Nederland Vest (from the fall 2008 issue of KnitScene) in… Continue
I was so excited about the Every Way Wrap when it came out in the Fall 2009 issue of Interweave Knits. I had never knit reversible cables before (unlike regular cables, this cable pattern looks good on both sides; there isn't an obvious front and back - which means you're crossing s… Continue
I'm on vacation this week, but I thought I'd share a video I took last week while I was home during the photoshoot day. I recently reorganized my yarn stash (and frankly am rather embarrassed by the meagerness of my stash, but now that I can see it all, I'll be much more inspired to start projects!).
I got those great tubs at Target. And, here are links to some other knitting supplies I find indispensable:… Continue
It's not too late to start Melissa's mystery colorwork project! I'm one of the test knitters, so I'm a little ahead of the public pattern release (which is why I covered up part of my project in the photo) and I can tell you that it's fun and b… Continue

It's photoshoot day (or at least one of them) for the November catalog. Lots of gift items and quick knits in this catalog since it is the last one you will receive before Christmas. Here's a short video of what photoshoot day is like:
It's almost the end of the summer, and we need to clear out a little room in our warehouse for the heavier winter yarns, so we're having a one-week-only lace yarn sale! Lots and lots of colors are on sale in all of our lace yarn lines - Shimmer, Alpaca Cloud, Shadow, Shadow Kettle Dyed and Gloss Lace… Continue
I just started knitting Frankie Brown's Ten Stitch Twist Blanket. She has the neatest charity concept - she's selected a charity close to her heart - the Children's Liver Disease Foundation, and offers her patterns free on Ravelry, hoping that those who use her patterns wil… Continue
I was so excited to be almost finished with my Essential Tank when I realized something........in the partial lace pattern repeat on each armhole side, I'd been making the two increases, but only one corresponding decrease, so my armhole edge slowly curved bac… Continue
The argyle pattern of my Nederland Vest (Ravelry link) is moving along quickly, probably because it's so addictive to knit row after row and watch the colors interact along the way. Gloss DK is… Continue
Finally finished with my second Positano Tote! I had terrible procrastinationitis about the lining, but finally just made myself do it this weekend. I brought it to work today, full of all my normal purse stuff plus my newest knitting project (photo below). I love that it stands up by itself and holds so much.
Pattern: Positano Tote from Interweave Knits, Wint… Continue
I've heard a lot of people say they don't know how they would wear lace shawls, and that keeps them from knitting them. We think lace shawls are infinitely wearable (you don't even have to look like an old lady when you do wear them!), and here is Nina to demonstrate:
The shawls shown, in order, are:
Chinook Shawl - from the Lace Yarn Sampler Kits, shown in the Deep Sea colorway… Continue
I love lace knitting, but I'm already the proud owner of four lace shawls, so I wanted to knit something else in lace. When I saw the Essential Tank Top by Laura Zukaite in the book Lace Style, I knew that was the next lace thing I HAD to knit! (It is image #1 under View More Images,… Continue
Knit Picks is everywhere! That's a bit tongue in cheek, but we are having a lot of fun talking about knitting on several social web sites. Have you friended us on FaceBook yet? A bunch of us are also on Twitter, posting tweets about our daily activities. Here's a link to our Knit Picks on Twitter… Continue
You might remember a while ago when we ran a contest to rename our Essential sock yarn - well the winner was "Stroll"! Not too long ago, we got our first shipment of some colors with the new name on the label, so depending on what color you order, you might get to see the new labels. I just wanted to remind everyone that Stroll is exactly the same fiber content (75% superwash Merino, 25% nylon)… Continue
Yahoo! Finally finished with my modified version of the Lady's Circular Cape from Victorian Lace Today, knit in Shadow lace yarn in the Spring Green Heather color. It was a little boring to knit, which is why it t… Continue
Wow, the Fetching Mitts were super fast to knit, and the City Tweed HW makes them so warm! I made the cabled sections on these a little longer than the pattern calls for because I like mitts that cov… Continue
It seems like everyone else in the office is knitting with City Tweed, and I wasn't, so I felt left out! Friday, I grabbed a couple balls of City Tweed HW (color - Lemon Curd) and printed off the knitty.com pattern for the F… Continue
We've received several questions about the development of City Tweed and especially how we chose the colors for the DK and HW (heavy worsted) lines, so we thought we'd have a little fun and film a short video about it! Continue
