This is my first year participating in the Tour De Fleece festivities. First I made some goals.
I will dye my own fiber this year. (I have never dyed before)
I will spin up my home dyed fiber
I will work with wools I haven't spun before
I will improve my long draw
I will experiment with diffierent plying methods
I will have fun
First I had to pick which fibers I would dye and how I…Continue
This is gonna have to be a fast and furious blog cause that has been the pace of my life lately and if I'm not careful everything will truck on without me. Momentum, what can you do about it?
so I got a spinning wheel at the end of February. Here it is, my Kromski Sonata in walnut, some of you will notice that even though I tried like hell to have a wheel different from my mums, I don't. I am really happy with it, even though we have had a few troubles.…Continue
and the kids too.
I don't have a ton of blog time so this is a picture blog. Christmas brought many fiber related gifts.
Like yarn my mom, The Blue Lake Knitter, spun and dyed for me.…Continue
I have been feeling pretty proud, not quite cocky, but almost. I haven't been knitting that long but I am being couragious and I am having all these positive experiences. But lately everything I cast on is total crap. When Mom was here visiting I tried working on this lacy scarf with butterfly motif and decorative beading for my DSIL. I cast on so many times too many times, more than twenty, maybe even more than that indiscernable number.
After mom left I took the skein of KP…Continue
What a week! I just got home from dropping everyone off; my kids at their respective schools and my mum at the airport. Everyone got out without a hitch and there was no screaming or anything. We got the linens in the wash, the dishes run through a cycle, garbage out and this house is the quietest I have ever experienced excepting the sound of my…Continue
Since I finished the Hemi I have had terrible knitting luck. My patience has been stretched; I have screamed and actually cried over the knitting. My brain too has been stretched and so has my knitting knowledge and skill. I have been challenged and disappointed.…Continue
That title pretty much sums it all up. I do shift work, and I’m gone from six in the morning till eight at night. I do not clean when I work and I tend to work all my shifts in a row. Gluten for punishment? What gave it away? When I have a few days off they are also all in a row. This morning I…Continue
I recently cast on the stitches for the Scaruffle I mentioned in my last blog post. Yeah I was brilliant, I cast on straight needles the wrong size didn’t really read the directions then had to frog it because, well…hello, directions!…
Knitting right along……Continue
My knitting adventure continues…
So much has happened since my…Continue
I did it! I survived the kid’s summer vacation, though just barely. If you ask them they’d tell you they are glad it’s over as well. How did I survive? Well, there was a lot of knitting and a couple of the kids picked it up and…Continue
It has been a very eventful summer. In June I got a new job and as a result I have made many positive changes in my life. It has been a busy couple of months. Now things are starting to calm down, not much, but a little and I get to think about knitting and I have been.…Continue
I have been very busy since my last blog. I lined the purse for my daughter Gracie. I didn’t get a picture of the finished product. The instant I cut the last thread she made off with it. I went to get a picture today and found it stuffed with her favorite things; a fountain pen I gave her last year for Valentines Day, green yarn to tie her hair up, a plastic daisy, socks my mom knitted…Continue
Here it is Mom. My long awaited blog post with pictures. To prevent confusion, I refer to my home/family as The Farm. There is myself and my husband, our four children, three dogs, two cats and one goldfish. I don’t live on a farm in the traditional sense. This is just what I call my life and all the individuals in it. Okay.…Continue
So, this is my first blog post and it's not about knitting so much as it is about what has kept me from progressing in my knitting and to let you get to know me. I tried knitting for the first time after coming back from visiting my Mum when my brother got married in June 2007. Yes, it has been a long time. I was not able to pick up knitting. This past November I just picked up the needles and determined to figure it out started knitting again and It was better. I was doing it. My needles…Continue
