Spring Break

I'm off to Ohio to visit my parents. I have to do the driving there. Nine hours with children 7 and 9 years old, and no knitting!!
My husband is meeting us there and driving home. Then I can knit!!

WHERE DO YOU KNIT?

I was looking through the pictures hoping for some inspiration for a new project when I saw a great picture of hkymum64 knitting while camping. It made me laugh and think of all the places that I've taken my knitting. I too have knitted while camping, although it is very hard to get the smoke smell out of your project. I knit all summer while sailing although again to the detriment of my project as the salt spray makes things rather sticky. I would love to hear where you knit and how it affects… Continue

My Ravelry invitation has arrived!

Last week, in all the hubbub of the school play, my Ravelry invitation arrived. I didn't know anything about the site except that many Knit Pick members are also ravelry members. It's very interesting how you can organize all your knitting projects. When I explained all the cool features to my husband, his comment was "If you send so much time typing every thing up when do you have time to knit?"

These questions go out to all the Ravelry members:

1. How do you use the… Continue

Sound of Music

I have had no knitting time lately!!!!! I've been spending all my time altering costumes for my children's elementary school production of The Sound of Music. Last night I hemmed 8 skirts. Today I have to alter the last adult gown into a child sized gown, add some velcro to Lisel's curtain play dress, and fix a nun's habit. I was going to the school and iron everything, but my daughter was up vomiting last night. The poor little girl is home from school and mom needs a nap! I have done nothing… Continue

iPods

Lately, I have been listening to books on my husband's iPod. What a great way to spend time!!! I find I enjoy the household chores much more while distracted by steamy romance or lively adventure. I also get the chores done quicker which leaves me more time to knit while listening to my book. Knit Picks podcasts are also a lot of fun to listen to. I asked my family for my own iPod for Mother's Day. I even looked up the dimensions for the new iPods and knitted a bag for it. I was… Continue

Taking pictures

I've been taking pictures of some of my work. My cat loves to sit right in the middle of my work making it a little difficult. I love looking through other people's projects for inspiration. I hope people enjoy looking at mine.

First time to dye

I just dyed some Knit picks sock yarn with my left over Easter egg dye. How fun!!!! I got carried away with the number of colors. I was just going to use four colors, but they looked so pretty......... Wet the yarn first in lukewarm water. I put newspaper then plastic wrap down on my kitchen floor. I put a hank of yarn which I had lengthen over the wrap, then painted the dye on the hank with a paint bush- making sure I colored all the strands. Don't let the dye pool. Use just enough to saturate… Continue
