Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year because I love to see people wearing crafty and creative costumes! Since Halloween is on a Saturday this year, we decided to come to work on Friday wearing our costumes.

This is the marketing department. From left to right, Kyle is a cowboy, Melissa is a c… Continue

City Tweed Projects

It's officially fall, and it's time for me to pick up my City Tweed sweater that was a little too hot to work on over the summer. City Tweed is a great yarn for fall knitting. It's warm enough to be outerwear before you have to break out the winter coat. It's soft enough to wear next to your skin, so you can be cozy in a sweater whether you are raking leaves or sitting in fro… Continue

The Montavilla Market Tote pattern is available for free

We have released the Montavilla Market Tote as a free pattern on the Knit Picks website. This was a very popular pattern, and I hope that more people knit this bag! I have knit several totes, and they are very handy to carry groceries, but they are small enough to fit several inside a pocket on my messenger bag. Here is a gallery of finished… Continue

Gallery of Mr Fosters

One of my favorite features on Ravelry is that you can search for a pattern, and then see all of the finished projects that other knitters have made. For instance, I looked up Mr Foster, and there were 115 projects! Here is a sample of some really wonderful finished Mr Fosters. I've credited each knitter with their Ravelry screen name unde… Continue

Spinning and casting on

I also went to Black Sheep Gathering on Friday with my friends Lee, Star, and Caitlyn. It was lots of fun! We saw a pile of baby goats (click on Lee's blog for the baby goat pictures), looked at lots of roving and yarn, and I bought a spinning wheel! Even though we went on a Friday, a lot of people were at Black Sheep. I ran into Kelley,… Continue

Coffee and knitting in public

The funny thing about World Wide Knit in Public day (WWKIP), is that I almost always knit in public. I'm just not home a lot! I think the reason that I enjoy knitting so much is that it's portable. I learned to knit a few years ago while I was in college, and I particularly liked that I could pull out my knitting when I was riding the bus to class or making myself sit still while reading a big textbook in the library (that produced a lot of scarves). And now that I'm out of school, I'm still alw… Continue
