Gifted My Lindsay's tonight

Tomorrow is my DIL's birthday. Tonight I had a little dinner for her and my DS. I made both chicken and beef kabobs cooked on the grill, a nice pasta salad, a broccoli salad (OK, I put my own little touch in here with strawberries instead of raisins, and pecans instead of sunflower seeds, not to mention my own dressing), Parmesan/Garlic/Onion Biscuits, and a Chocalate Truffle Cake and French Vanilla Ice Cream.

My birthday gift to her, the Lindsay socks that I finished several weeks… Continue

Finally got to spend some Quality Spinning Time

It was a beautiful morning. Partly cloudy, 70's, even though the weather report said there was a 60% change of rain. I checked the radar map, and it would be hours before we actually got rain. I had my breakfast, started a load of clothes, and sat on the front porch in the comfortable weather and knit another four rows on my Hemlock Ring Blanket. Then it was noon. I went inside, put the washed clothes in the dryer, started my second load of clothes, and got my spinning wheel. I spent over two… Continue

FO and WIP

I finished the Comfy Worsted shrug using the Ribbed Lace Shrug pattern, by Kelley Maher, that I found on Ravelry. This one is for my youngest granddaughter.

By the way I FINALLY found my Blackberry Comfy Worsted that I thought I had lost, but one day after I reordered. That may be why I found it, because I gave up looking. I may save the Blackberry for the new… Continue

Finally Spinning

I finally got some quiet time to myself to try my hand at spinning. The results are not fantastic, but it is my first try. I WILL improve.

And now I have even more Merino roving to spin.…

May Guild Meeting - and need some help.

As most of you know I was knitting a poncho for one of my guild friends based on the Yarn Harlot's Very Harlot Poncho, using the fabric patterning from the Textured Shawl Recipe that I knit for myself last month. Well I did finish last night, and here is the happy poncho wearer.

We made additional plans for our retreat next month, exchanged phone numbers in case of emergencies, etc.

Then we had a demonstration of a Inkle Loom ...… Continue

Progress Plus a New Arrival

I've been furiously knitting on the Textured Shawl/ Very Harlet Poncho. so that is will be finished before my guild meeting on Sunday... I started the 3rd of 4 balls of yarn last night and have made good progress today... only two more sections of texture and I will be finished.

I was taking a short break to run to the store - we are always running out of something... when the UPS man pulls up in front of the house... What ever could he be… Continue

Gotta Share this doggie picture

I had to share this rare picture of our one year old puppy (on the right) with my MIL's 5 year old (on the left)... taking a "short" break from their evening frolic... Both have been running through the house like there was no tomorrow.

Getting Ready for a new experience

Well, I got my Mother's Day knitting done in time for my family (daughter, grandchildren, son-in-law) to get their presents yesteday. They have promised pics, but haven't gotten them yet.

I started a new Knitted Bolero pattern (I'm using Comfy in crocus) to make this Kelley Maher design:

Any way, I like to think I'm a pretty good knitter, and the lace pattern is so, so simple...

but, everytime I turn… Continue

Finished Lindsay Socks - what next

I finished my Lindsay socks late last night. Here are two different views. I still have to wash them.

I knit these in Essential Tweed, Inca Gold

My next Sock Innovations sock will be the Cauchy, I will be using a Gloss Sock Yarn, and a 2x2 ribbed cuff. It may be a week or two before I can start them... but at least they are on my list of planning projects to… Continue

The Raccoon Story

As many of you are aware my husband and I live out in the woods... we are surrounded by water on 3 sides, and there are trees all around... so we live way out. We see all sorts of wild like on our little road: deer walking in the front and back yards, every imaginable bird, beaver, and raccoons (but you don't see the raccoons very often - they are incredibly sneaky).

One Saturday morning last summer, my husband woke up at 5am. I was sleeping in because it was Saturday and one of the… Continue

Packaged and ready to ship

I finished my Mother's Day knitting this morning... I have now wrapped and packaged everything for shipment tomorrow. I thought it would be a little different to send presents to them, instead of them sending something to me... oh, they may still send something to me... we'll see.

Included in this box are two Boleros knitted from Crayon and Shine Sport, one one shawl knitted from the Pima Paints yarn and some eyelash, a pair of feather and fan socks knit with Lion Brand Microspun,… Continue
