Harmonies hit a snag:(

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone has ever had this happen to them........I was knitting with my GORGEOUS Harmony Size 11 straight needles (the first time I have ever used them) and about a week into knitting....I got a snag on one of the needles near the tip (I think its where the colored woods are layered started to peel away from each other) I raced into action:)! I didnt want to have to reorder....so I decided to sand the spot down with my nail file and cover the snag with clear nail… Continue

If she only knew!

So I have begun knitting the prayer shawl that I blogged about earlier! The person who will be recieveing the shawl has seen me working on it, but doesnt know it has anything to do with her. I was super sneaky about purchasing the materials with her too.......My husband and I went on vacay over the long weekend with her and her husband (we went to Branson Mo---very cute town) and I told her I was making a big scarf for my grandma and I needed to pick out a pretty lavender yarn and sone nice… Continue

Which yarn for a prayer shawl?

Hi everyone! I have been looking for my next project, and I stumbled across the Prayer Shawl Ministry Online. I was instantly inspired to creat a shawl for a friend of mine who (with her husband) has decided to become a foster parent. She is a loving, caring, and dedicated Christian, so I knew she would appreciate a gift with such meaning. She appreciates the knitted gifts i give her, and I love making things for someone who likes, and uses them. I am also looking forward to knitting something… Continue

Im still here!

I can't believe it has been this long since I've posted! Since becoming a teacher, I have tried to take full advantage of my free summers, but this year it kind of got away from me. I had every intention of blogging and knitting all summer, until my FIL decided to show up on our door and STAY FOR A MONTH (mind you, he also brought his girlfriend, and her teenage daughter) so I was stuck taking care of them while my husband worked. I didnt get any knitting done........and now Im back at work and… Continue

Hi everyone! I have a yarn question.....now that I have finished my first pair of socks, I want to make a pair for my dad's bday in April. Im thinking something warm (my parents live in chilly upstate NY) and he is an avid hunter and loves the outdoors. What would be the best KP yarn for this project? Im excited to place my first yarn order, I love all the possibilities and colors:) Thanks for any advice!

First sock finished!

I have finally completed my very first sock! I was nervous at first, but I took my time and used a really easy pattern. I finished it in about a week, and cast on for the other one right away! I really liked using the dpns too! They were challenging and kept me from getting bored. I know they aren't perfect, and have a few mistakes, but I had so much fun that I look forward to making another pair and improving my skills:) Im already looking at yarn for my next pair! Ill post photos as soon as… Continue
