So the other week i bought my first mawata.  it is gorgeous.  i am trying to make the helix scarf with it.  i am not sure how i am doing, but it seems to be coming along.drafting is proving interesting.  i have never spun or drafted before, but this seems like a good place to start to get a feel for fiber.  granted, it is sticky and catches on everything; including air; but the fibers are long, which makes it a little more difficult to not pull them apart.  stay tuned for an…

I finished my first real pair of grown up sized socks.

So i finally finished my first sock. I did it top down - took the pattern from Melissa morgan Oakes TAAT socks book-- even though i only did one. it says it is a toddler size- but it doesn't fit my toddler son. he's 3. but that's ok. my next one will be a top down sock of the same simplicity- ki1p1 ribbing at top and stst the rest of the way. so i have started this endeavor. i really don't know what i am doing, but with the help of Kelly's video tutorial and a few books- i am muddling through. right now i have finished the leg and working on the heel flap. So i am still working on the sweater. i think i have about 2 inches done. i know not alot, but it is coming and i am working on a baby blanket for my best friend. it is a block pattern- seed stitch squares and lace squares and seed stitch border. so nothing too too exciting, but i am anxious about blocking it and then putting it all together.
