Gizzie Summer Lovin' Socks

Almost done with the leg of 2nd sock! It's recommended to use size 1 but, I used size 2 so there would be more stretch to accomendate a leg that suffers from swelling. Time to retire. tom I should be able to finish the sock; casted on the gusset stitches tonight on first half. The lace design is easy and fast. Continue

Amanda Schwabe I'm in love with knitting socks!

I can't stop. My fingers are starting to cramp from the tiny needles, but I keep going. I made two of my sons a pair each (they got to pick their own yarn), and then I made myself a pair, and now I'm working away at making them for the entire extended family as Christmas presents. They're small, they're cozy, they don't take a lot of yarn, and they're new and exciting after years of knitting scarves and mittens and hats and the occasional sweater. These are my sons':… Continue

Jenny Allergies and A Lot of Knitting

I have felt like I had a cold for the past week, my allergies have been horrible lately (itchy ears, sneezing...) I'm not sure what I am allergic to, but this is the worst it's ever been for me. I changed allergy medicine so hopefully that will help. I hope it ends soon!

I will stop complaining now and talk a… Continue

Jenny Star Wars Marathons, balling yarn, and knitting!

Today I had my fourth annual star wars marathon! This all started the year I was going into 9th grade. Me and two or three of my friends decided we were going to watch all the Star Wars movies in chronological order one day. It was so much fun that we have done it again and again and again, and each year more people come, and more people bring food/baked goods (this year we had a full table, there were two huge plates of cookies, a pie, a carrot cake, fried dough, homemade applesauce, and other… Continue

Susan the Blue Lake Knitter One finished Alpaca Sock

Ok, I was going to wait until the pair was finished, but I just couldn't! This is a record for me. I finished a whole sock in one week. I had started and frogged this particular sock three times before this final effort which started last Monday... and today... we have a finished alpaca sock for my dear husband Larry. His feet get really cold in the winter and i promised him some alpaca house socks out of the alpaca I earned knitting a Hemi back in June. Here is my first finished effort. I have… Continue

Susan the Blue Lake Knitter Fo and my progress

Every time I finish a project, I just have to cast on a new one... usually within a day... I will cast on, knit a while, then go back to whatever was already on my needles. Anyway, this week I saw the lovely Noble Cowl knit by Knit4Many, and fell in love with the pattern. I had planned a purple scarf for a good friend as a Christmas present, and I had 3 balls of Andean Silk (Imperial) just waiting in the wings. Everytime I looked in that stash drawer those purple balls nearly jumped out of the d… Continue

Bobbie Kolehouse Shipwrecked Shawl swirling against the rocks

When I first saw this pattern I was smitten as if it were a mythical siren. And like the sirens, the going has been kind of rocky. Good news is I've found other lures to capture my imagination. But the beautiful SW shawl is calling. Its beads in a box waiting... With a couple of corrections I might be sailing again. First, I believe I have the wrong weight yarn. I looked for the wool and silk locally, already dyed, and ended up with a sport weight (Medium Worsted). That's why the center looks… Continue

Peggy Stuart Missing Spinning

As you read this, I am on the road, hopefully knitting in the back seat with Sunny, or enjoying the outdoors with the whole family. IF I didn't take my spinning wheel (my lovely, adorable, efficient and user-friendly Kromski Sonata), I am missing spinning very much. My thoughts drift back to my last spinning meeting at Linda's:

Peggy Stuart FOs?

There is a finish to our objects. Projects end, either because we throw them in the trash or because we come to some other kind of conclusion, such as a successful completion. During our quilting/knitting minigroup (aka "Common Threads"), my friend Kay finished the afghan she was making for a friend. Here is Kay (right) holding up her afghan. My friend Joanie (of the "Sheepish Ladies") is on the left. Hooray for a finished object, even if it wasn't one of mine! (I tried to get her to leave it wi… Continue

Peggy Stuart Shear Terror!

The clouds parted, and the gentle sunlight spread over the little pastures and driveway of my friend Linda's alpaca farm. The fluffy heads were erect, like glass-headed pins stuck into round, fuzzy pin cushions, as the animals gazed with curiosity at the row of cars, parked diagonally, like the parking lot of a strip mall. What were so many humans doing, coming to visit Linda? Little did they know... Monday was shearing day for the fluffy alpacas at Linda's. It had been scheduled for the week b… Continue

Peggy Stuart Home Sweet Home

We had a great trip to Reno. We left Thursday morning and arrived there in the evening. The dogs were good on the trip. Rocky sat in his car seat next to Daddy, and our friend Barbara and I took the back seat with Sunny in the middle. The kitty always rides in the trailer. Here's Rocky in his car seat:

Peggy Stuart On a Roll!

Well, I'm getting some knitting done, as you can see. I need to dig out my quilting and see if I'm able to do anything with needle and thread. Here's what I'm working on primarily, 30 minutes at a time, several times a day:

Above you see my Nonna's Garden Shawl up to row… Continue

Peggy Stuart I CAN KNIT! Well, a little!

I just got back from physical therapy, and the therapist says I can take off the splint and knit, but only for 30 min. at a time, and if it hurts at night, then I need to cut back. I'm going to take it easy, but I have started working on the first pattern row of my Nonna's Garden Shawl. When I get the first row done, I know the following rows will be easier, because I'll have the various blocks of color to tell me where to put the colors in the next row. After I finish work on the Nonna, I want… Continue

Peggy Stuart Confessions of a Laid-up Knitter.

As some of you know, I've been having sore thumbs, and until I see the orthopedist, I'm trying very hard not to knit. This is more than the usual arthritis I've had for years. I've been spending my time reading real books from the library and signing up for two new KALs! (There was no containing me!!!) Last night I was going through my knitting books and marking the ones I would like to make. In Bronwyn Lowenthal's Love to Knit Socks, I only found one pair I would like to make soon that c… Continue

Sybil K Stroll. Is it a yarn or a pattern?

I was searching for a new sock pattern when I came across Berroco knits page. They have a sock pattern called "Stroll"! Isn't that a funny coincidence?!! Continue

EdwardRad Watch It Grow...

I've decided that I am horrible at taking pictures of my WIPs until they're finished. That leaves me with only finished project pictures, which are nice, but I really like looking at other knitter's WIP pictures. So, to combat that, I'm going to take a picture of whatever I'm working on each day and post it. (Yeah, yeah, I know I'm jumping on the 365 bandwagon...) Day 1 has been added to my Photo stream above. Also, I've added a pic of my… Continue

parisribbons Sock Progress

Well, I'm still crawling along on the first sock. It looks good, though. I wrecked my bod again and it took ages to get back on my feet. It's so frustrating to look like a younger healthy woman and in truth, I am fragile on so many levels. I feel good, overdo, spend days or weeks coming back. BORING!! Well, upward and onward. I will finish these rascals! Continue
