High Fiber—Happy New Year!
Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year!
Christmas was good, but my birthday, which started at a few minutes after 10:00 PM, which was a few minutes after midnight in Florida, where I was born many, many years ago, sucked! Well, this was supposed to be the "Big 70." It was, actually 70, but it was by far the worst birthday of my life, if you don't…

High Fiber—Progress on All Fronts
We've had some progress on all fronts here. First, we finally got our first snowfall of the season. This was my back yard:
The resorts are happy. Now if it will stay cold enough, maybe they can keep some of it to form the base they will add to when they make snow. (All of our local…

High Fiber—More Baby Projects

If you aren't familiar with this quilting tradition, the idea is to use lots of fabrics that depict objects a child might be familiar with: animals, foods, toys, flowers, etc. You tell the child, "I spy a (name of object)" and let them find it in the quilt. It's a game, but it's also a way for a small child to increase his or her…

High Fiber—Obsession

I've been working on the Knit Picks Dogwood Blossoms sweater. I'm going to make it as a drop-shoulder cardigan, a style that looks better on me than the design with capped sleeves. I'm also adjusting the colors some, eliminating "Almond" and adding "Nutmeg" (discontinued) "Sweet Potato" and…

High Fiber--Keeping Warm
We had knitting last week at Rob's lovely home:
Here are Lynda and Georgette, sharing knitting advice and tips. The knitting group is great. Rob has a neat new camera, which he used to take this photo.
This week we had Common Threads, in spite of the early arrival of snow:

High Fiber—Special Delivery!

I will send it on its way today. Ravelry members can see how I did it here. I used Swish DK in Bare and Di.Vé Cipria in yellow, held together, and Stroll fingering weight yarn to embroider the eyes and beak. It's about 2 1/2" high. Daphne should be able to hold it in her hand…

Really High Fiber Fest!
Merry Christmas, everyone! Here's this year's Christmas card:
This is the earth as viewed from moon orbit on December 25, 1968.
"Peace on earth, good will toward men." Good wool toward knitters, too! And alpaca, etc., or your fibers of choice.
My fibers of choice…

High Fiber--Bound for Heaven!
This week found DH and me on a snowshoe outing with a special purpose.

As you may know, my DSIL, Eileen, passed away October 4th. She wanted her ashes scattered at the top of one of the local ski resorts, on the snow. We had to do this before the resort opened but after there was snow to snowshoe on. Friday…

Oh! No! Mo' Snow!
It never fails! June comes, we're ready for summer, and then the snow! Last night the June snow fell.

Not that it was a surprise. Yesterday afternoon, Sunny and I went to Camp Hobe, outside Toelle, UT, to participate in a therapy animal activity with 120 young cancer patients and several other dogs and their handlers. I dressed warmly, but it was cold in the open pavillion. (I'll try to post some photos at a later date.) Sunny…

Snow, Snow, Snow...
As you can see, im making good progress on the lace gown for Daphne's naming ceremony. I have nearly 2 1/2 months to finish it. It's a fun project, and is going well, now that I have sort of learned the pattern. You repeat a 34-st pattern across for four rows, repeat…

Snowed In!
But first, an update on my latest FO! I posted a photo of my finished BSJ in the comments section of my blog last week.

The yarn is Comfy Sport in "Creme Brulee" and "Ivory." Here's a closeup of the front detail. I created this detail…

More snow:YUK Where are my needles??
Well, another snow day for the kids and I spent most of my morning out in it (snow) by shoveling and moving vehicles out of the driveway then back in the driveway.
I will be picking up my needles today instead of the hook...I need to get some more scarves done for the 10,000 by November Tails of Hope challenge and some baby hats for China...finished. I like doing those easy non thinking projects when the kids are home and the atmosphere is…
