High Fiber—Rolling Over and Over in My Gravy.

What a week! Soren and his entourage came for Thanksgiving, since we won't be able to be together for Christmas this year.

I spent most of the week cooking and cleaning. The kids arrived Wednesday night, and we had Thanksgiving dinner early in the evening on Thanksgiving. The dinner…

High Fiber—Spooky Times, Good Times.

The scarf I wove for my friend Rebecca is finished.

I hope to be able to give it to her this week. Rebecca let all the Vintage Stitchers go through the bins of fat quarters she wanted to unload, and we each came away with a pile of very nice quilting fabric. Later, she gave me a big…

High Fiber—Beautiful Bears, Bigger Blankets, Beautiful Ballads and Budget Books

Joanie has finished another bear for the Mother Bear Project:

You can just see the petticoat with a picot edge peeking out from under the skirt. (Joanie is a fantastic designer.) These bears go to children who have HIV/AIDS, mostly in African…

High Fiber—Back from Wyoming.

Important things about Wyoming:

Yes, there are buffalo (bison, a great fiber animal). It's The Equality State, the first to give women the right to vote and the first to have a woman governor. We lived there when we were young, and our first child was born there.
It's also the home of…

High Fiber—Fun Finishes

My friends and I have been finishing things this past week. Here's Janet's latest quilt top:

She brought it to Common Threads for show-and-tell. The pattern is "Bars of Gold" from Pam and Nicky Lintott's …

High Fiber—Summer Here at Last!

Wow! What a week! Monday we shopped the Memorial Day sale at Hancock Fabrics and got the fabric to recover the seat cushions and pillows for our porch furniture:

The fabric on the seat cushions and two of the pillows is UV outdoor fabric, so we can leave them out. The plain brown is not designed for outdoors, but I can take the pillows in at…

High Fiber—Happy Memorial Day!

We had Vintage Stitchers at my house on Thursday. Barbara finished sewing the binding on this quilt while she was here.
Carol has been working on this "moment of insanity" quilt. (I've had several like that.) The reason it's a moment of insanity quilt is because she had no idea how many…

High Fiber—Spring Comes to the Mountains!

Our daffodils bloomed just in time for Mother's Day!

The hummingbirds are back, too. The hiking trails are almost clear of snow. The mud is starting to dry on the trails, so we decided to take a hike in Toll Canyon, near our home, on Wednesday. It looked like a nice day when we started out, but it…

High Fiber—Ready, Sett, Warp!

Common Threads met at Georgette's this week, and we had some varied projects. Margareth had finished this woven wrap:

Janet had made progress on her Dogwood Blossoms sweater. The photo didn't turn out, so I'll have to show it another time. Lone was working on needle felting:…

High Fiber—Seams About Right!

The quilting bug has hit me again:

I just finished this quilt top which will be a topper for our little table in the living room. The quilt contains several fabrics I received for Christmas along with some I bought when I visited DS1 and DDIL1 in Kokomo last year.

The sewing "fit" followed a…

High Fiber—Wool, Work and Wonders.

It was a busy week! Sunny and I went to visit clients in the nursing home as usual on Tuesday.

Then we had Common Threads on Thursday. My friend Ellen is working on this French Braid design for a quilt top (above). Kay finished a baby blanket for her cleaning lady, who is expecting (below).…

High Fiber—Happy Birthday, Daphne!

Today is Daphne's birthday! It's hard to believe it has already been two years!

Here's one of her new toys. It's a castle slide, just right for a little princess with an imagination and lots of energy. Baxter, the dog, enjoys watching her play on it, especially because it means she plays outdoors longer. Her little brother is…

High Fiber—A Visit to Sharon's Attic Quilt Shop

This scrumptious array of fabrics is what greets you when you enter Sharon's Attic Quilt Shop in Hillsboro, Oregon. The shop was just a close walk from DS2’s and DDIL2's home in Beaverton.

Here are some other shots of the nice selection inside the store:

Serenity

Serenity finally had her Maiden Voyage last week. We went to Silver City, New Mexico, about a two-hour drive away, and stayed at the KOA there for our home base. We wanted to see the Gila Cliff Dwellings:

(That's DH walking away in the middle of the photo), and hike the Catwalk National Scenic Trail (I…

High Fiber—Big Events!

As if the wedding a week ago wasn't enough, the days that followed included a variety of fiber events that place high on what would be my bucket list.

Tuesday, Eevi Emminger, founder of Mitts of Steal, and I went to the Beaverton Fresenius Clinic to deliver fingerless mitts to patients there.

Wednesday, new DIL and I went to Crafts Americana to visit the office of Knit… Continue

High Fiber--Spring at Last!!!

The Crocuses (Croci?) are coming up!

That thing that looks like an iceberg floating on the street is...an iceberg. Actually, it's snow DH threw into the street to melt.

High Fiber--Spring at Last????

The front deck is getting more sun all the time. You can see that Rocky got to the sunny spot first.

The snow is melting...melting...melting, but we're supposed to get more tonight. Spring at last? Not until the pups can go out in the backyard without being able to walk over the fence…

High Fiber--Closures

These are the last days of anything like summer around here.

Our Saturday hike brought us to a land of striking shades of yellow. (I have to remember this for my dye pot!) It was a warm day. We had a really nice hike to the Fairy Tree in Toll Canyon, a wonderful hiking spot, not just because of the fall foliage, but also because of the year-round stream, which provides drinking water for the pups.…
