Melissa A drool-worthy baby kit

Nina already blogged about our Little Bubbles Baby Set, but I thought I would share my experience photographing it on my 3 month old yesterday because it is so entertaining. We needed a modeled picture of the pinks set for banner ads, and the sample was knit in the 0-6 month size, so it was Alice's big break into modeling.… Continue

Nina Hello, Little Bubbles, and the Comfy KAL!

Susan the Blue Lake Knitter Getting Ready for a new experience

Well, I got my Mother's Day knitting done in time for my family (daughter, grandchildren, son-in-law) to get their presents yesteday. They have promised pics, but haven't gotten them yet. I started a new Knitted Bolero pattern (I'm using Comfy in crocus) to make this Kelley Maher design: Any way, I like to think I'm a pretty good knitter, and the lace pattern is so, so simple... but, everytime I turn around I have created an ext… Continue

Melissa Back from maternity leave

I'm back at work from maternity leave and feeling good. I actually missed work--I guess that's a good sign that I love my job, eh? For those of you who didn't read the news elsewhere and are wondering, my baby girl was born on February 11 (two weeks late!), and we named her Alice Irene. I have more to blog about in the coming weeks, including a free baby sock pattern, but for now I'm going to leave you with a photo of Alice at 9 weeks old wearing the chocolate cupcake hat that… Continue

Susan the Blue Lake Knitter Textured Shawl Recipe

I completed the Textured Shawl Recipe in the wee hours of this morning. For some reason I could not sleep, so I knit on this shawl. I finally finished it. I have also included a closeup of the textured portion of the shawl. Pattern: Textured Shawl Recipe (on Ravelry) yarn: Comfy Bulky in Cutlass Needles: Size 10.5 (US)

Susan the Blue Lake Knitter Continuing Saga... knitting, knitting... untangling... ugh!!

I'm still working on my Cookie A, Lindsay sock (#1 of 2), and only need to knit about another inch or so of the pattern before knitting the garter stitch short roe toe... this is really a fun sock... and not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. The k4tog's and ssskp's only occur every eight rows, and on the foot (top only) you only have to do two pattern repeats per row... easy peasy. Should complete sock sometime this weekend. Textured Shawl Recipe - this is a GREAT pattern... I will… Continue

Susan the Blue Lake Knitter S and S

Yes, I have been knitting. I was waiting for my yarn to make my Cookie Sock Innovation Lindsay sock, and just didn't want to work on anything else. So... Knit4Many told me about a pattern she used and I liked it and had enough yarn on hand so I started here. I am knitting this Textured Shawl Recipe pattern in the new Comfy Bulky, in Cutlass.

Susan the Blue Lake Knitter I Love Knitting for my Grandchildren because...

Wednesday my daughter called to chat a while... in the course of the conversation she told me that all of the children were discussing what grandma was going to knit for them next. The youngest told her that she couldn't wait to have a bunch of knitted stuff, and she would wear it all at the same time, even if the colors didn't match. I finished the toe up socks for the daughter in law yesterday... washing and blocking... today we have to be in their town anyway, so I plan on stopping by her of… Continue

Christy Holiday Christmas White Elephant and Cookie Contest

Well I know you all think we have fun everyday because we get to work with yarn and knit, but this was our "real" fun for the holidays. The Knit Picks gals joined up with the marketing and the IT group to have a little release. So we had a potluck, cookie decorating contest and white elephant gift exchange and thankfully the snow didn't fall yesterday so we could all be there to enjoy it. Here are some of the highlights...… Continue

Melissa Baby boom

Lately it seems like all I've knit are baby gifts. Since we launched Comfy this Spring I've made two baby sweaters from it, and while I'm sick of baby sweaters, I must say that I still love the yarn! Continue
