High Fiber—Stitches and Snow

It was a great week for quilting. Common Threads met at Janet's, and we had a variety of projects.

Ellen is working on the second block for her Home Sweet Home quilt. She isn't sure if she'll make all…

High Fiber—Rolling Over and Over in My Gravy.

What a week! Soren and his entourage came for Thanksgiving, since we won't be able to be together for Christmas this year.

I spent most of the week cooking and cleaning. The kids arrived Wednesday night, and we had Thanksgiving dinner early in the evening on Thanksgiving. The dinner…

High Fiber—High in the Clouds

It was a busy week, as usual, The little rug from my weaving class came off the loom. It's almost finished. I still need to decide the treatment for the fringe. Here's the front.

The back is the same as the front, except that the colors are reversed, and the clasps show up. You might remember from last week…

Helping Others at Thanksgiving

It's Thanksgiving time, and I'm feeling grateful for the roof over my head and food on my table. Not everyone is so lucky. When I drive to Salt Lake City, I often run into people with signs that say, "Homeless. Please help."

Friends have told me that they are reluctant to give money to these people, because they are concerned that it won't be used for food. Another concern about giving money is that they might have to buy food at a fast food restaurant or convenience store, where…

Fall Seasons Shawl into blanket for a couple of wonderful people

Back in late August, I received a KnitPicks catalog with the Fall Seasons Shawl kit on the front cover and fell in love with it, both the kit and the yarns.  The very next day I ordered two of the kits and as soon as I finished the baby blanket for my niece I cast this on!  I am almost finished with my version, changing the width to a rectangle rather than a semi-circle and a lot more length.  In September, I realized that I was still a bit short on yarn and purchased even more of the Forest…

High Fiber—Thankful for Furry Friends, Frozen Flakes and Fiber Fun.

We got more snow Friday night, so Saturday was great for snowshoeing.

Here are my favorite snowshoeing companions: DH, Rocky (wearing black) and Sunny (in brown).

Sunny was busy collecting snowballs on the trail, which she showed off after she got into the car.

Snowshoeing was a nice way to finish out the…

Now that I have your attention...

That's Gabriella. You have seen her before if you have read a previous blog post. She's the orphaned baby alpaca my friend Linda has been raising with a bottle. You will see more of her later.…

Help for a Knitting Buddy?

This is the problem:

Thanksgiving dinner was at my friend Barbara's. (Actually, I have several friends named Barbara.) She has a knitting problem and asked my help. I sort of have an idea of how to solve it, but I promised Barb I would share her project with the best knitting minds in the world. Her non-knitting friend saw… Continue
