Well, I'm finally, finally, back to weaving. On Tuesday I rethreaded the heddles on my floor loom, using the warp that was already on the loom left over from a previous project. Continue
I had to change the tie-up, too, to weave what I wanted, but it was easier than I thought it would be. I'm using…

The weather has warmed up a bit, and our bulbs are emerging.
We also have daffodils, as do our neighbors. The ski resorts closed after Sunday's operation. Soon they will gear up for taking mountain bikers up the hill to ride down. DGD1 brought home her snowboard and boots… Continue

It's been quite some time since I've posted to this blog and many projects have been started and completed. Many ideas have popped into my head and onto my needles only to be ripped out and started anew.
I've always like doing socks and it seems that I start one sock and the other never seems to make it to reality. I love browsing new sock patterns and I've logged many patterns that I want to try. One of the things I'm really not good at is the gusset and then the toe (kitchener stitch). I… Continue

Knitting socks has to be one of my favorite things to do. And why not? There are small, portable, easy to knit almost anywhere. And all the wonderful variations, what more could you ask for?
I must admit that I am somewhat of a lazy knitter when it comes to socks - I always knit mine two-at-a-time, usually toe-up. Also, I prefer using Judy's Magic Cast-On for a silky smooth toe.
Cat Bordhi, the Mad Scientist of knitting, has come up with so many innovations for knitting socks:… Continue

This was a week for finishing things. While waiting for the dentist, I finished this sock and took a picture of it on the waiting room floor:
I told them they had kept me waiting so long, I finished a sock. Fortunately, they all have a sense of humor. The yarn is KP's Stroll Lullaby Hand-Painted. I'm using a pattern of K2, P2 one rnd, K all sts in… Continue

Last weekend I finished up these socks that I started a long time ago - like way back last May after I received my order of the new Felici. My Mom really liked the Rainbow colour, so I thought I'd make her some socks. However, they ended up getting pushed to the sidelines for one reason or another. She'd mention them from time to time, but I… Continue

I finally finished my Tea Party Monkeys today!! I'm super happy with how they turned out, and I'm so excited to wear them :) After finishing my Sunday Swing socks back in January, I've developed a new appreciation of wearing hand knit socks; so I'm… Continue

I've finally got some photos to share! Sorry it's taken me so long. First I'd like to show a picture of my Sunday Swing Socks knit out of Stroll Hand-Paint in Cartoons. I actually have these on my feet as I write this. They are super cozy, soft and a perfect fit! They keep my feet warm enough, but not too warm. Just the right thing for these chilly winter nights!

I try to start a new project on each Holliday. I have been looking for just the right Sock Pattern to go with my Coveted KP Sock yarn that has been winking at me every time I open the drawer it was stashed in. (All you knitters know the wink your yarn gives you each time you reach into your stash when deciding what to start next).
Up until now I had not… Continue

I just got back from physical therapy, and the therapist says I can take off the splint and knit, but only for 30 min. at a time, and if it hurts at night, then I need to cut back. I'm going to take it easy, but I have started working on the first pattern row of my Nonna's Garden Shawl. When I get the first row done, I know the following rows will be easier, because I'll have the various blocks of color to tell me where to put the colors in the next row. After I finish work on the Nonna, I want… Continue

It was a beautiful day in Oklahoma so I decided to try my first attempt at dyeing outside rather than in the garage. My sock blanks went in the bath at 7:30 a.m. Then I began the task of organizing all the items necessary for this process. That took a while! I felt like the mad chemist mixing dyes. Once that was done came the big dilimma - what colors should I use. Oh so many choices! I decided for my Mom I would make a Autumn colorway and for me, blues of… Continue

Okay, so; I just got my first sock knitting book. It's called "Getting Started Knitting Socks" by Ann Budd. This book is fantastic! I really shouldn't have done it, but I started to knit a pair of socks. I really should have been working on Christmas presents, but I couldn't resist the temptation! The designs for the socks in this book, she has socks in lots of colors and gauges. Some of the colors aren't my personal taste, but hey, I'm a metal head. But the best thing about the book is, it has… Continue
