Hurray --- I finished my first pair of socks!!

They may not match and they may look more like booties but they are done and I've very proud of myself for actually finishing a PAIR of socks!

It's been quite some time since I've posted to this blog and many projects have been started and completed. Many ideas have popped into my head and onto my needles only to be ripped out and started anew.

I've always like doing socks and it seems that I start one sock and the other never seems to make it to reality. I love browsing new sock patterns and I've logged many patterns that I want to try. Knitting socks has to be one of my favorite things to do. And why not? There are small, portable, easy to knit almost anywhere. And all the wonderful variations, what more could you ask for?

I must admit that I am somewhat of a lazy knitter when it comes to socks - I always knit mine two-at-a-time, usually toe-up. Also, I prefer using Judy's Magic Cast-On for a silky smooth toe.

Hello Knitters,

I've finally got some photos to share!  Sorry it's taken me so long.  First I'd like to show a picture of my Sunday Swing Socks knit out of Stroll Hand-Paint in Cartoons.  I actually have these on my feet as I write this.  They are super cozy, soft and a perfect fit!  They keep my feet warm enough, but not too warm.  Just the right thing for these chilly winter nights!

I just got back from physical therapy, and the therapist says I can take off the splint and knit, but only for 30 min. at a time, and if it hurts at night, then I need to cut back. I'm going to take it easy, but I have started working on the first pattern row of my Nonna's Garden Shawl. It was a beautiful day in Oklahoma so I decided to try my first attempt at dyeing outside rather than in the garage. Okay, so; I just got my first sock knitting book. It's called "Getting Started Knitting Socks" by Ann Budd. This book is fantastic! I really shouldn't have done it, but I started to knit a pair of socks. I really should have been working on Christmas presents, but I couldn't resist the temptation! The designs for the socks in this book, she has socks in lots of colors and gauges. Some of the colors aren't my personal taste, but hey, I'm a metal head.
