New Projects

It's been quite some time since I've posted to this blog and many projects have been started and completed. Many ideas have popped into my head and onto my needles only to be ripped out and started anew.

I've always like doing socks and it seems that I start one sock and the other never seems to make it to reality. I love browsing new sock patterns and I've logged many patterns that I want to try. One of the things I'm really not good at is the gusset and then the toe (kitchener stitch). I… Continue

Travelling Loop Method

I am doing some power knitting today trying to finish up some quick gifts for the members of my small group.  I am making small felted (fulled) bowls and using odds and ends of wool stash and my size 11 circular needles.  I stumbled upon a method that I had never used before in using Magic Loop where you use only one loop.  You start with a big loop on your right hand side and just knit around and around until you get to your marker or the last stitch on your left needle.  It works if you…

Hat patterns for Magic Loop and or two circular needles

Hello, All Knitters,

Thank you for all your great suggestions. I have downloaded the instructions for both the Magic Loop and two circular needles. I would also like to have the instructions for converting existing patterns done on double-pointed needles either as a download or to purchase.

Thank you,…

Toe Up Socks on the needles

I purchased some yarn the other day and wanted to knit socks with it. OK, it's worsted weight... not your typical sock yarn, but it is BEAUTIFUL. I've searched for days for an appropriate pattern or some guidance for the toe up socks - I really hate having to knit a second sock, and I love socks, so I need this methodology.

Somewhere between late last night and this evening it all came together, and I KNOW I can knit these

I did my Turkish cast on this evening and am about… Continue

I dyed!

Sunday, June 29, 2008.

It was a beautiful day in Oklahoma so I decided to try my first attempt at dyeing outside rather than in the garage. My sock blanks went in the bath at 7:30 a.m. Then I began the task of organizing all the items necessary for this process. That took a while! I felt like the mad chemist mixing dyes. Once that was done came the big dilimma - what colors should I use. Oh so many choices! I decided for my Mom I would make a Autumn colorway and for me, blues of… Continue
