Well, I haven't accomplished much over the last week, but I certainly have had a wonderful time. Last Wednesday, I received a package from Debra's Garden.
What on earth had I ordered? I don't remember ordering anything. The phone rings. No. 4 son has injured himself biking. He was on his way to work. Could I please come pick… Continue

This is my first post here on Knitpicks. Right now I'm working on dinosaur toys and afghans for my godsons. This is what the pattern is supposed to look like
And this is how the first one looks so far. I'm working on the tail...… Continue

Now that I have your attention...
That's Gabriella. You have seen her before if you have read a previous blog post. She's the orphaned baby alpaca my friend Linda has been raising with a bottle. You will see more of her later.…

OK, my trip to Arizona is over and I’ve talked about it for over three weeks… but during all that time the major thing going on in my life is finishing up my Christmas Knitting. I’m not doing as many projects this year… but there is still a lot to do……

With Thanksgiving behind me, I now have to get back into the school zone...got a accounting test on Monday, and a persausive speech with power point presentation due on Thursday. Blah humbug....
But I did manage to get a good pic of my grandson (middle--David), and my great niece (on left--Bryleigh) and my great nephew( right side--Cayden)..…

and while I have been enjoying some uninterrupted knitting time I am almost going nuts! After there being 6 people here all the time having a whole day to myself is kind of boring! LOL
Almost finished with the one sock I am test knitting. Very nice pattern!
And am knitting the cute little bibs and booties that were in a KP kit. Got the cowboy shirt and the referee bibs done. Very quick knit actually. Will start the last one during the hockey game tonight. Then onto the booties! And I… Continue

My last blog post disappeared into the ether, so let's see how this one fares. I've finished my mom's Christmas socks, and just past the toe of my sister's second sock (toe-ups). I'm also about 1/4 of the way through dad's scarf. Cumulatively, this means that I'm ahead of schedule! Hooray!
Here's a picture of mom's socks (modelled by your's truly):
I love how the pooling turned out, and the stripey toes… Continue

Why oh why on my days off work do I have to wake up with a headache? If it isn't a sinus headache it is a migraine. If it isn't a migraine it is a "hormonal" headache. Course I would rather have either the sinus or migraine because I can take medicine for those. These stupid hormonal ones don't even respond to Vicadin! Oh well...I am hoping to at least be able to play some board games with the two youngest and knit for awhile....then maybe a nap will help! I still have to make the pies for… Continue

My new spindle arrived today! That's one day lost on my Christmas knitting, and my other (almost finished) spinning will just have to wait. I'm spinning lace weight, and I'm happy as a clam. =) I'll take pictures when I can pry myself away from the spindle long enough to use two hands.

Which KP yarn would be a good substitute to use in place of Lion Brand Homespun?
I have a crochet pattern I am creating for an easy afghan but would like to use KP yarn instead of LB Homespun
. I am hoping someone can suggest one for me.
Its weight is: Category# 5 Bulky
and suggested gauge is:
Knit: 14 stitches x 20 rows = 4" (10cm) on size 10 (6mm) needles
Crochet: 10 sc and 10 rows = 4" (10cm) with size… Continue

Thanksgiving week is here. Yesterday (Monday) was my only college class for the week, and of course I got the wonderful news that when I go back to class next Monday..I have a test over 3 chapters. blah humbug....I hate test on Mondays, let alone it being the first class after a holiday break...why do they do that??
Also yesterday, Tammy, Diane, and I (my final project partners in Public Speaking class) went and done our required 2 hour volunteer work at Turning Point Dimestic… Continue

Quilts, amazing quilts! My Vintage Stitchers group met at Brenda's right after she went to the International Quilt Festival in Houston. Brenda brought each of us a bag as a souvenier. Here, Rebecca shows hers off:
Several people (besides me) brought quilt tops to give to Julie for professional machine quilting. This is a batik top made by Barbara:… Continue

I am so bad at this blogging business....
Grandbaby #3 was born August 14. Spent two weeks in the hospital but is fine and doing well now!
School (and therefore work) began August 18. So there went more time away from knitting and the computer!
Then we moved October 15th and I am still very slowly unpacking the last of the boxes and getting things organized. We downsized as far a size went and it has been a challenge to fit everything in the new place. I am very much enjoying the… Continue

What a busy busy day.. my friend Peg and I went to two holiday craft shows this morning and then out to Sirlion Stockade for lunch...yummm.
The first show we went to was at Otter Creek Golf Club. My son Jeff's girlfriend, Kyleigh, and her mother, Robin, had a booth. Kyleigh makes and sells bead work and Robin makes quilted purses..Both do absoutely beauiful work.. (I'm sorry I forgot my camera this morning so I have no pictures..)…

I must admit the fall has been rather busy and I have accomplished less knitting than usual. I still have half a cow butt to finish for my new niece. At least the bonnet has been finished for a while. It has been pointed out to me that the horns do kind of resemble nipples. I will have to agree with this. It will be worth a good laugh and some embarrassing baby pictures. I might end up being like the crazy aunt in a Christmas story that sends Ralphie the pink bunny suit. Even though I have a… Continue

I just joined this group, and this is my very first blog posting. So I guess I'll start by telling you all a bit about myself.. I'm 45, married to Jerry, and have 3 sons from my first marriage, and have 3 stepchildren (2 gals, and 1 guy). I also have 1 natural grandson, and 8 step grandchildren (1 mine, 7 his). I am a college student, not sure yet what exactly it is that I am studing for, as I am just finishing my 1st semester. I am a avid reader, a avid knitter, and a… Continue

For several years now my husband and I have been supporting Heifer International a charitable organization which gives animals to needy families around the world enabling them to become self sufficient and productive citizens in their own countries.
Heifer International does this by collecting donations from people everywhere and using that money to purchase animals that they know can provide good incomes as… Continue
