Father Layne & Casey are going to stay...for a few days with us until their house in Ft. Worth is ready for move in. Casey and I will have a lot more knitting together time, and Mark and Layne can visit, too. I'm so excited, but not looking forward to their moving off. These things happen. :(
I have just about completed my "Casey is Moving Away" pink stripes prayer shawl and we will have Mark and Fr. Layne bless it when it is complete. They have both given so much to our community… Continue

Following the loss of Alfie one of our 7 year old Scotties, his brother Macintosh now has a new playmate. Her name is Maisie and she is a brindle coloured Scottie.Pictured here with younger son Richard.
She is into everything and I dread to think what life will be like when she discovers all my knitting and spinning.… Continue

To the tune of 'Rolling, rolling, rolling, raw-hide!!'
I have so much to say and such little time! Lol. My mind has been in a whorl since last week. I finally finished finishing my new Turkish drop spindle from Knit Picks. And took it on it's maiden voyage last Friday afternoon. (the varnish wasn't quite dry...) I had to hurry up and practice!!! I had been asked and subsequently volunteered to demonstrate drop spinning on Saturday at the local alpaca farm's public… Continue

September is a busy time of the month around here as it is for most people. Especially those with school age children. Time to get into the swing of back to school, fall sports, getting the home ready for the "S" word. For our family its even more busy because we celebrate two birthdays and an anniversary.
Well just recently little man had a homework assignment in math. He had to find things around the house that use math or where we have numbers. He then had to cut and… Continue

I only realized today, as I was reading angelkahru's new discussion in the Spin Along that many of the friends in that group are VERY new to spinning. No one should ever think that their question is dumb. The only dumb question is the one you don't ask, because if you don't know the facts, and you want to know them, right now, then you have to ask. So...I decided… Continue

This weekend was Alpaca Days in Woodland, UT, and many other places in the US. I spent the weekend spinning at the Blue Moon Alpaca Ranch
. More about that later.
This week saw the completion of the knitting on DH's Fair Isle sleeveless cardi. I'm still working on trimming and sewing down the steek sts. I found a… Continue

i have been toying around with the idea of starting a yarn shop. I know this is a HUGER than HUGE endeavor, but it has just been popping around in my mind. why you might ask?
1. it all started when i realized the Dayton area lacks a great yarn shop. one that does not feel like it is an attic, or old, or someplace where you feel like home and can plop down on the couch and knit.
2. one of my SIL's (who knits) her job ended. she wasn't fired or… Continue

I'm currently knitting the "Seaweed" Throw from Kristin Spurkland's The Knitting Man(ual)
. I put the word seaweed in quotes because it was given that title for the color she knit it in, but I'm using City Tweed Poseidon instead. So far, I LOVE it! Here are some pictures of what I've got so far!
The pattern isn't as visible in the pictures as it is in person, but I think you can get the overall idea (especially in the last picture).…

I joined a crochet and knitting club at my local library. I missed the first meeting two weeks ago because I had to work. I put in a schedule change at work for Thursday off so that I could go because I was really looking forward to it and I didn't want to miss anymore gatherings. I work every weekend and only one day a week so I don't think it was a big deal to be off that day. Anyway, I went this Thursday and there was about fifteen ladies knitting and crocheting. Everyone seemed really nice… Continue

I should start over since I hit an incorrect key and it took me out of the Blog Post. Again, I'm a long time knitter (on and off) and mostly working with basic pattern projects. Now I'm attempting to make the Chunky Slippers and it has a number of stitches that I am not familiar with. Please help. Right off the bat the pattern says to Cast on 8 sts. which is fine, but then it says to "work one row. Turn work so that CO edge is facing up, and with RS facing." Is it telling me to just knit on… Continue

That title pretty much sums it all up. I do shift work, and I’m gone from six in the morning till eight at night. I do not clean when I work and I tend to work all my shifts in a row. Gluten for punishment? What gave it away? When I have a few days off they are also all in a row. This morning I… Continue

So I have been trying to manage my time and knitting projects to finish some things off before I start any new ones! Last night, I finished the baby blanket I have been working on for my friend, Kerin. I started in July- but got sidetracked! I am so happy to have finished because we are having a shower for her soon as she's due in a little over a month.
1. I have to finish up my leashes, make the tags, price them out and package them up--- I cannot wait to get all 25 of them off to the… Continue
