Sleep is so overrated!

Silly me thinking I need sleep!!!

I wanted to be coherent before my graveyard shift, so I slept through the live letsknit2gether webcast -- WWWWAAAHH! Okay, I'm over it!

If that's not enough, I have to wait 2 whole weeks for my mug! I may be becoming a bit obsessed!! Actually, I collect mugs much the way CAT…

California here I come!

So... tomorrow... It's September 1! Chris and I will be off on our first vacation together. I'm thrilled! I'm stoked! I'm so excited! (As if you couldn't already tell.) I've got my share of the luggage packed. I actually did that several days ago so I could bring the half packed suitcases over to Chris's house so he could do his clothes and such. We've been steadily shopping for things we need (like shampoo, snacks, extra clothes, etc.) over the last 2 weeks. Even…

Evelyn's Fiber Blessing

Over in the discussion "What benefits has spinning (& the KP Community) brought to YOU?" Evelyn left a beautiful blessing at the end of her one of her comments. [Wanted to put a link here but I'm not sure it worked. :( ]

I replied that I wanted to frame it and put it on…

30 minute Program

I decided I'm going to write my program down in a clear, concise manner and include pictures. I figure this will help in at least two ways. 1) I will have a reference to go to so I'm not tempted to cheat, and 2) sharing with all of you will encourage me to stick with it. So, here goes...…

Sock Journey 8

Hey Sock knitters

Well, I am starting on my latest journey

this journey is a little different from the others

that I have done the reason being that I am

basically working with partial eye sight.

So, I am going to take it slow

My journey is going to be a "Sprial Rib Sock" I got

this from the "Getting Started Knitting Socks by Ann Budd"

The yarn I am using is "Caron Simply Soft" the color is "Chocolate"

and the size circular…

Out of commission

Hey Sock knitters

I know that it has been a while since you heard from me

and believe me it was no fault of mine.

Well, I had a eye doctor's appointment and it was found

that I had a detached retina in the right eye and a film on the

left eye and if anybody knows a knitter needs their eyes to knit.

So needless to say I had emergency surgery and laser surgery the next morning.

So I have been out of commission for since the 3rd of…

Hummingbird Pattern

My mother LOVES hummingbirds and I'd like to make her a throw pillow for Christmas - one that has a hummingbird in the middle. I'm having trouble finding such a pattern. Do any of you know of one? I'd really like to be able to felt it, but mainly just need a pattern. I'd like it to be one that has colors and where you can really see what it is. Thanks for any help you can give! :)

Night-Owl Knitters?

Curious. How many of you prefer or find yourselves knitting into the 'wee-hours' of the morning? I, myself, would call myself a 'night-owl'. These are the only hours I can find for myself when everything is tranquil and I can hear that 'still small voice' in my beating heart. Are there any 'kindred-knitting spirits' out there with whom I can connect? Please include what you like to knit at such times.

It's getting easier

I finally got passed the edging that was making my life so bad! Now it's the body, k3 p3 k3 p9! So we'll see how things progress from here! I think I actually might like this pattern and the blue yarn I've been fussing about. Do we hane a knitters annonomous????

Fall is in the air and my first Christmas project is on my needles!

After a wonderful summer spent on the water I am ready for fall. (By the way if anyone gets a chance to try Stand Up Paddle Boarding I highly recommend it. Great exercise with the calming effects of being out on the water.) Anyway the last few days the weather has been overcast and quiet cool (high 60s to low 70s) so I have been thinking about fiber in all kinds of ways, knitting, crocheting, dying and dare I say it spinning. My sister went to visit friends in Peru and came back with all kinds… Continue

Suggestions, Please!

First of all, I have completed one gift on my list, A sweater and hat for my nephew.

On to new things and the reason for this post. My children have asked for sweaters this year. My daughter wants a simple tunic with a heart on the bodice. My son wants a red hooded sweater with a train track on it.

I have worked out the sweater syles and charted an intarsia train track pattern to go around the wrists and above the ribbing. The problem is I have no idea what yarn to use…

Lots to do lately...

I have been very busy lately between my fiber love, work project and house hunting.

I made a couple orders with KP lately and this is what I got:

  • Starting at the Top Left and the Top Center are for making 2 sweaters {when I get the time :) }
  • Top Right: Spinning book (Intentional…

Free fleeces!

Here in Minnesota there are a lot of farms, not too many for sheep. But there are a few that ware close by that have free fleeces! One of them is a farm specializing in lamb meat. They shear the lamb, but never use it, they have piles of fleece in the barn up to the rafters, all for free. They have never used it, not too many people knit or spin around here, I know like 6 people within 20 miles of me. Anyway, since they have no more room for the stuff we get to take it off of their hands, and… Continue

Comments on "skill levels"?

I'm starting to get the hang of blogging. :-) I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying having a "home base" for info and resources and links to things! I think that's the part I'm enjoying the most about a separate blog page!

A question came up on Ravelry about "knitting skill level." I know Susan the Blue Lake Knitter sent me a link last year and I thought I'd bookmarked it, but if I did I'm overlooking it. So, I went on a net search to find it or something similar. I am…

Going to be SOOOO much FUN!

I live WAY out of town. My LYS is 40 miles away. Since I don't drive, [I know, unheard of in this day and age, but true.] I don't have much contact with other fiber enthusiasts. I only joined the KP community a few days ago but I'm already having lots of fun, and looking forward to the connections.…

Thank you, KP!!! You outdid yourself! So did I dye and go to Heaven or to Hell? Oh, am I the Scarlett Pimpernel?

"We seek him here,

we seek him there

Those Frenchies seek him everywhere!

Is he in heaven? Or is he in hell?

That demmed Elusive Pimpernel?

Well, knitters, I've been having a hard time getting back into blogging. I just can't seem to consistently get myself organized.

First Socks!

I was so excited to finish the Spiral tube socks for my sister that I started another pair right away. Only this pair of socks actually has a heel flap, heel turn, gusset and whatever other anatomy of a sock there is -- this sock has it! A big 'thank you' to Sage Gypsy for the pattern but I have a confession to make...I improvised! I took the advice from two others as well and hoped for the best. So far, I've only had to work out minor hurdles.

I was so excited to get through with the…
