Busy, Busy, But Not Too Busy for Friends!!!

Dear friends,

I have been very busy with a new website, and online store, and setting up some social networking. I really am trying to get my online business off the ground so to speak. I have not been neglecting you on purpose. I have been following your activities, but just not taking the time to post or blog until things settle down.

If you want a sneak peep of my new website here is a link,…

Latest project- it's CROCHET!!!

I hardly ever crochet anymore- but this felt so good I couldn't put it down!! I found this pattern last evening and when I couldn't sleep at 3 in the am, I started this and was almost done with it when I decided to try to sleep again at 5. Argh! But I only had 45 minutes or so left this morning when I got up. :) I was really needing a pick-me-up, too, and this sweet little project worked! In honor of our very own dear NoKnitSherlock, when I…

I'm not sure she/I can handle it...

OK... So I looked at all the helpful links and posts about helping to make the blanket for my Aunt A. It took me close to an hour to make 1 lousy cupcake, that looks really weird... I really don't know if my work is just too tight or what, but I cannot imagine making 35 more of these myself- let alone trying to teach a woman who has never knit/crocheted before...

I would certainly like to thank everyone for their encouraging words and kind offers of help. I am going to post the… Continue

Dreading the family party...

Hi everyone! I have been knitting leashes like crazy for the past few days, but I am starting to dread next weekend because I am going to my husband's family party in NY and his aunt has begged for my help with a crocheting project (wow--- sorry for that run on...). You see, she found out that I know how to knit and crochet and my grandmother in law told her she loves the work I do. The only problem is that I have very little crochet ability (like my gram taught me when I was 15 and she never… Continue

Low Fiber

Just a quick blog this week! I'm in Temple, Texas, for the wedding of our daughter. On the way here, I finished my Koolaid socks, made from the KP sock blank I dyed using the sun tea method:

I took the photo while still in the car. I don't have access to wireless internet here, so I can't transfer my photos. (I did this one while in the motel yesterday.) Next week I'll have…

Crochet Fish

I just finished this fish for my daughter, she's sixteen, so I was surprised she wanted it. It came out pretty good. And it didn't take long to make. I spent Monday evening doing it. I couldn't get the eyes to go right for anything! I did the eyes four times! So I gave up and went to the craft store and bought the wiggly eyes. My youngest son wants one now.…

Just wanted to update everyone on a non-knitting matter - I found a condo in WI and am putting a bid in today for it. Here is the listing on if anyone is interested.

Can't you see my new spinning wheel sitting next to the fireplace?

I have my fingers crossed they accept my bid...

BAD puppy or BAD mommy???

We got a puppy in March of this year. Her name is Maya and she is a beagle mix mut. We are absolutely head over heels in love with her. We got her at 8 weeks old. She was crate trained at our house and ended up sleeping in our bed at night (thanks to my husband). Since I have summers off as a teacher, she has been in her crate less and less during the day because shes out and about with me. We recently started leaving her in the living room/kitchen area of the house when we go out without her.… Continue

Chaos! and planning

The past couple of weeks have been insane over here in Fiddle Knits Design world. July is my busiest month by far for performing in 2010 and then to top it off I had some major design deadlines (all of which have been met) and a wedding to attend.

The Homegrown String Band has so far traveled to Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia this month. Some of the gigs have been good and few... well, not so much. But I'm going to spare you all and won't get into doing… Continue

A new Week in the world according to ..

So, I made it to worship and through the weekend I accomplished a few other things:

  1. I knitted for an hour during the Sunday School hour on a prayer shawl I want to finish this summer
  2. My husband and I executed several thousands (seemingly) of West Texas "sticker burrs" in our front and back yards
  3. Completed 8 loads of laundry for my household on Saturday and Sunday, washed,…

Newest projects!

Hi all! I have been knitting for such a long time... but started getting bored of the same few patterns. I knit blankets for my family members, baby blankets for my friends new little ones, and some scarves along the way. I never thought I could handle putting together a sweater- so I stayed away. Now my sister is expecting her first baby and I decided to make him (Owen) a blue cabled sweater! AHHHHH!!!! Surprisingly, it came out well... and while I procrastinated putting it together, I did it!… Continue

Jill & her latest project

Another creative weekend is upon us here. And my knitting buddy Jill has instructed me to keep you updated. She said Tara had said so nicely "pretty please" that it would be rude not to.

What am I talking about, you say? Well, I'm talking about me being torn from one project to the other. Okay, that's nothing new. But this time round it's more like fighting my selfishness (although well placed) to make a project "on the quick" for a dear neighbour of ours.

I ran into said… Continue

Camp Crafter

It's been a few months since I've been able to knit, but I have been doing some dyeing! I just returned last night from 2 weeks of Cub Scout Resident camp as Handicrafts Director and here are a few sample of things I tie-dyed at camp. Everything turned out great and the campers had a great time doing various leather, bead, gimp, and wood projects. I have one more week in August and then it's back to knitting! I just… Continue

Quiet knitting time gone...

Yep, VBS is over so the littles are back home every morning doing their summer school work. No more quiet, podcast listening, knitting it is so hot here that the yarn is sticking to my hands when I try to knit...bleck. I will be so glad when we either a) get the AC fixed or b) get to move to the new place that will have working AC.

I wanted to get some of that special buy over spun sport yarn but procrastinated too much so all my favorite colors are gone. :-(

I think I will… Continue
