Just finished this little project

Just finished this cute felted pin cushion.   I lost my dear knitting companion - my cat of 17 years Fiona in July 2011 and when she left this earth she took my heart AND my desire to knit.   So I went a long long time not knitting at all - just pretending to care about knitting when really I did not.

I couldn't stand being in a big old house with no cats any longer , so three days before Christmas my husband and I adopted two Russian Blue sisters - 9 months old.  BAM! …

Channel Island cast on method

Hey everybody.  Just found this today and didn't want to lose it before I got a chance to really take the time to watch it, and thought others might want to, too!

So here it is.  Channel Island cast-on.  To watch here:

High Fiber—Hitting the Shops

As I promised last week, here's a review of the Needlepoint Joint in Ogden, Utah.

Joanie, Ellen and I stopped there after the Acorn Antique Fair. We always stop there when we can. Joanie was looking for yarn for a poncho with a cowl attached. The people who work there are very helpful.

When you come in the door, you see a nice selection of bags and…

What I have been working on lately

What I have been working on:

Back in October I created a ‘meet-up’  at work for others who knit or crochet.  There were 8 of us that showed up.  We meet approx every other week in the cafeteria at work on Wednesday nights.

In February the Knit Picks Community had a Virtual Spin-In.  This is what I spun during that weekend:  Polworth wool in the Petrified colorway by CloudLover.  I got 138 yards in a 2-ply at a Worsted…

knit with love book

Knit With Love - Stories to warm a knitter's heart by Lisa Bogart

super! This book is just super. It's got the knitter's language and God's as well. The way

Lisa mixes them together makes them fit right into their place, like a jigsaw puzzle. When I

first started reading this I thought, this is a…

Trek scarf: to boldly go where stitchingmamatx has never gone before....

I finally finished the pair of fingerless mitts I knitted on commission after many trials and tribulations.  Cast on this Star Trek emblem and preamble scarf I have planned as a gift for my son.  I have never done fair isle color knitting except on a Bond knitting machine so this is another new skill I am learning.  As I learn more knitting techniques, stitches, cast on and cast off methods I like to share those with my knitting friends.  As part of my efforts to knit down my stash, I am…

Looking for 1 skein of "Merino Style" yarn in "Big Sky"

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to finish a project and am in desperate need of 1 skein of "Merino Style" yarn in "Big Sky."  This yarn has been discontinued from the Knit Picks website, so I would greatly appreciate it if anyone would be willing to give up one of their own from their stash!  Of course, I will pay for the yarn & shipping.

Please help!

High Fiber—More Baby Stuff

I'm making progress on Zachary's quilt.

The pattern is the Chiloquilters Train Quilt. They placed the trains in strips, but in my version, there will be two trains, each going around two sides of the quilt, with a "tunnel" between each, so four blocks by four blocks. I designed the "tunnel." The other blocks are from the original quilt. I'll…

Winter Knitting (obsession) Therapy

I swore I wouldn't post until I had something to show and tell, and so I've been knitting like a mad woman since, well, I haven't really stopped since September.  My focus has been all over the place. I went on a mitten kick for a while to give my friend something to put on her web shop.  I also made a bunch of tie-dyed onesies for it.  I cast-on a few things, including my Granny Smith Apple Cardigan, and then Christmas knitting started in earnest  over Veteren's Day weekend.    I made…

High Fiber—Winter, Wonders and Wool

Vintage Stitchers met this week. Janet is finishing up her Noah's Ark quilt, which she started when her son, now a high-school senior, was little. She has made many quilts in between. Now this one will be for his child someday.

Diane is working on a block from Hop to It by Edyta Sitar. …

My purple lace socks!

I have a few physical challenges that sometimes limit my knitting, crocheting and polymer clay work.  I have MS and RA; and both are centered on my right side.  I am right handed so you can see that I have a little bit of a challenge.  However, I am not complaining by a long shot.  When I was diagnosed with MS as a child there were no medicines and the medical community treated it much the same way as they did anything they did not understand.  They recommended that families put their loved…
