This past weekend I attended the Sheep in the City Getaway 2011!
Friday: I took the Beginner’s Drop Spindle class which was taught by a wonderful instructor named: Lindsay O’Neill. She was great! I bought some BFL from a vendor and an Ashford spindle in the class and made a cute little skein. She walked us through making a single. Next we took it off the spindle using an empty toilet paper roll to make a center pull ball. Then we plied it using the spindle which…

DANGEROUS READING? ... ... ... OR NOT!
Towards the end of January, Cheryl mentioned the book “Sweater Quest my year of knitting dangerously” written by Adrienne Martini in one of the KAL discussions. I don't remember which discussion, let alone which KAL. I'm not sure if she linked it. I'm not even sure why she mentioned it. However, I do remember immediately searching for this book. After reading the short little blurb about it, after looking at either the author's blog or remarks about it, I knew I needed to read this…

Rainbow Socks
Hello Everyone,
Last weekend I finished up these socks that I started a long time ago - like way back last May after I received my order of the new Felici. My Mom really liked the Rainbow colour, so I thought I'd make her some socks. However, they ended up getting pushed to the sidelines for one reason or another. She'd mention them from time to time, but I…

Knitting Party coming up - Saturday, March 5th - everyone welcome
Hi everyone!
Just thought to let you know I'm planning another virtual Knitting Party, a week Saturday from now. That'll be March 5th.
I'd be thrilled if anyone would join in. No specific plan yet - I've always got lots on my needles and am starting to realise I've also got a few UFOs again.
DH has also just reminded me that I've got the night off - meaning he's on a rare night out. So I may well be able to stay up for longer than usual. YEAY
EVERYONE is…

Works in Progress
I only have one project I am working on, it doesn't happen too often that I don't have multiple projects going on at once. I am working on finishing on domino sock. I started this project well over a month ago and it is time I get it finished. I am almost done, I have a pic on my blog.

I knit every day. I have for several years and I love to knit… but sometimes I get in a spinning mode and just cannot stop spinning.
Several weeks ago, our guild leader Marlene asked me to help her with a project. She had recently received batches of processed Wensleydale fiber from her own sheep. Wensleydale sheep have some of the longest locks of any sheep breed. And they are super curly… I used some of these on two hats for my grandsons for Christmas. …

I have a feeling those over there at KP would not like to hear about stashbusting (unless it's KP yarn, I suppose,) but I just read through about 8 pages of posts over on the StashBusters! Group and I am determined to set some goals for the rest of 2011. Lofty goals I probably have no time to conquer, but with the help of donations to nursing homes or Salvation Army, etc. it is doable. Here it goes:
1) Buy no more yarn until I have all my stash fitting in one large tub. (You should…

Hubby's gone so I am Dyeing Alone!
The Arctic Cold Front in West Texas is now a not so fond memory. The weather is warming up, but it is still technically Winter here, and the phones are silent. So Mark decided to take a week and drive off to his mistress, FiFi, who now lives in Addison and with whom he has not spent any time since before the Holidays just past. (FYI: FiFi is a vintage B-29 Plane but still....) So on Valentine's Day I…

Busy Bees at our house!
And a couple of wonderful sights, as well.
This is the mountain we see to the northwest out our livingroom window every day. Several views of it are in Cowgirl's album, but I thought this one was 'a little different' enough to share it with you.
This next photo was taken out…

I have 2 more repeats of the pattern for the center of the scarf, and then I can do the Lace Edge on both ends. I just wound my second ball of the red, so raring to go. My daughter was looking through the Estonia Lace book and foun d a scarf/shawl in a triangular pattern that she likes, it is the Triangular Scarf in Leaf Pattern, very pretty, and has already picked out the laceweight yarn from my stash, a lt. blue, from Alpaca with a Twist, Fino, weight. Of course she would pick the most…

Hi girls,
Sorry there has been no posting this past week. Last Tuesday, I had some major bleeding issues due to my chemo therapy and was hospitalized. So I have been silent since the 8th, lol, Janet quiet???? Anyway, just got home this afternoon and raring to go with more knitting. So now I have to get busy with washing and blocking some scarves and shawls that I promised to get pics up and put on my blog. It will take me a few more days, but will be posting them soon.
