I am 67 years old. I have been knitting for over 40 years and can also crochet and tat. I used to teach Victorian ribbon work before I became disabled and
I do beading - jewelry and French beaded flowers.
A lot of my work in all these areas are my own designs.

Still socks

Bon Jour!

No, I am not dead, didn't leave the country, shred my sock and quit or any other drastic thing. I gave up on the round pointed metal needles and ordered those lovely Harmony wood DPs. They are a dream. I had the top of the sock ( the very 1st sock) 1/2 done. I started working with the new needles and the 1st 1/2 looked
like crap SO I ripped out all the way back to the ribbing (2-1/2 inches long).

In the meantime, I had a fibro flare and was down for several days. Got up just in time… Continue

Sock Progress

Well, I'm still crawling along on the first sock. It looks good, though.
I wrecked my bod again and it took ages to get back on my feet. It's
so frustrating to look like a younger healthy woman and in truth, I am
fragile on so many levels. I feel good, overdo, spend days or weeks
coming back. BORING!!

Well, upward and onward. I will finish these rascals!

SOCKS!

After over 40 years of avoiding socks, I just started my very first pair.
So far I'm doing great but I've only done 8 rows:> I do have hopes of
success. (Those who pray, please pray for me.) I don't need another UFO.

At 7:26pm on November 18, 2009, MartyAZ said…: I am going to survive that antibiotic. Doc said stop taking it. I am sure I will pick up right away. Back on Chemo today. It will probably be as it always is: almost no side effects except tired and lazy. Friday I take the Dexamethasone and that one has side effects I really don't like, but by Saturday evening I will be fine again. Glad you met some new ladies who like to knit. Getting out and about is good for both of us: think of something else besides our aches and pains. Thursday I am to "monitor" at the knitting club here. That means I do the coffee, and welcome visitors, and lock up when done. Sort of an "in charge" but not really, thank goodness. Everyone has to have their turn in the barrel each year. I have been gathering supplies to use fixing book. I hope I have enough energy to do it Thursday afternoon. We see.
Weather here is lovely. Mid 70's and bright sunshine.

I tend to avoid potlucks because the food is often at the inbetween temperature for too long, which is where things can spoil. Not too paranoid!

I am on an antibiotic to try and make me better, but it has given me terrible diarrhea. Other than that, I am in pretty good shape. I start my chemo drug today, after my week off.

I have a new "job" helping to repair books at the local genealogy library. I did this back in the dark ages when I was in college. I can do the simple stuff for sure. I have been reading the internet to see what the latest methods are, because I am 50 years behind. This is a job I can do when I feel like it, and not have to do it every week at 2PM, etc. A once in a while commitment.
I hope you feel better really soon. Thanks for asking.

My DIL is an Internist with Geriatric specialty. Her treatment for many things is "exercise". Do you have a pool in your area you can join? Walking pools give you exercise without inflaming the arthritis. She prescribes this for old age, oncoming Alzheimer's, hypertension, migraine, depression, obesity and the general blahs. Getting up and moving is one of the hardest things to do when you feel crappy!
Find something fun today.

I just found an hew LYS where they are nicer to you. I need to go and check it out, except I am afraid I will buy more yarn! Not what I need.

New box from KP due in today or tomorrow. Whee!

I wish it would stay fixed and not pop up with something new and painful. I hope you can get some relief for your FibroMyalgia. That is nasty stuff. I at least have good days more than bad. Sun City West is North West of Phoenix, west of Glendale and Peoria, north of the big football stadium. I have knit all my life, but have had several years when I didn't knit, but did quilts and stitching instead. I go from one thing to the other.
Finding it very nice and friendly here at KP. I have added enough to my stash to last the rest of my life.
I am being treated at Mayo for Multiple Myeloma, a kind of bone marrow cancer. The treatment is working great, so far. I plan to keep on keeping on as long as I can.

I heard about it from an online knitting during Sock Wars III. You'll get a lot of use out of the iPod! I have an MP3 player, too, but it will only hold about four books. I got it so I could download books online from the library. The iPod (at least mine) won't work for that. I'm over the cold but went to the Dr. yesterday for pain in my neck and shoulders. It's a variety of pinched nerve. I'm on Prednisone and muscle relaxants. Feel better today. Hope you're doing all right, too! --Peggy
