Hey, I'm ok, how are you? The job is ok. I get to answer questions about fertilzer and plant food now, on top of the herbicides and pesticides. I enjoy it sometimes, but there are times when people just call to yell that something didn't work, so that takes some of the fun out of it. The best part is when I have a house with a yard and a garden, I'll know how to take care of everything.

Michele, I was just trying to be encouraging. I have had several projects go south, so to speak, and it just makes me want to throw my hands in the air and give up. There are so many factors that go into a project, pattern, yarn, gauge, how you knit, etc. Any one of those can totally ruin what you think is going to be something absolutely perfect. I saw a beautiful shrug knit up in cotton over a year ago. I just knew it would be simple and knit up quickly. I bought the book, bought the yarn and started knitting. I knit and knit and knit, but it just was not working. I finally gave up on it and used the other balls of yarn remaining for shrugs for my granddaughters, which all turned out beautiful by the way. So we all have failures, I just really hate when it happens. Susan

I'm knitting the Cookie A Sock Innovation socks right now.... joined the KAL, bought the book, bought my yarn... picked out he Lindsay on page 120 to knit. Cast on and started knitting the socks, only to find an error in the pattern... I even sent Interweave an email telling them of the error. They didn't get back with me right away and I devised my own solution... not the one Interweave eventually sent me... but it worked just the same. I "made" the pattern work... maybe it wasn't the "book" solution, but it was a solution... and I have one sock finished and a second about half way completed. Daring1

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I may not be the most experienced knitter around... but I may be more daring than most... always trying new things. If you ever need any help or additional encouragement, I'm right here.

Knitting in pieces is a lot harder than people think. I did two boleros this winter, and making the opposite sides look right - truly opposite isn't easy. All of your pieces just look like they will fit together fine. I just wanted to encourage you.

Cool. :) I totally understand. I've been out of school for a while, but not so long that I forgot what it's like. And I can relate to the excitement too. Finishing a project is awesome. :)

Thanks for the comments about the socks for my mom. My advice, if you're really asking, is to jump in and not get too frustrated. Also, pick an interesting pattern. This was only my second pair of socks, too!
We need to talk horticulture some time! I just started a temp job as consumer service for a herbicide/pesticide company. I've learned more about plants and bugs in the past week than in my whole life! LOL

The sweater is taking a nap. It needs it. Or I do. I don't know. Even if I finished it tomorrow, DH won't wear it til next winter, so no point in rushing it now. It will eventually get done. :)

I really like the Risata. The sock knitting is going slowly - such tiny stitches! But mostly it goes slowly because I have another project I'm also working on that is easier, and the easier one is what I reach for in the evenings when I'm tired. I've finished the cuff and am working on the body of the first sock, haven't got to the point of turning the heel - maybe later this week. I love the color and texture of the Risata, so that really helps with my motivation. Hope you enjoy yours, too.

Question...

I am still trying to find a job which is why my poor blog has been neglected but have been fiddling around with this knitting project and that. I made the base to a bag in the effort to try out that technique where you knit in the round with yarn that has a regular repeat. That was fun. I would do that again. It is just the strap to go. I love to just fiddle around with things and try out new and different possibilities for future reference. I checked out a Nicky E. book of knitted embellishment… Continue

Bleck!

This week has been oh so slow. I went to a friend's house last weekend and Sunday felt a little iffy and Monday felt like total junk. I haven't felt like that in a good long while so it was a little dramatic for me. The days that followed were not so bad but the overall ickiness lingered. I feel a lot better now, just really tired. I didn't get any knitting done unfortunately but, I did work on an idea I have been mulling over for a while for a knitted garden sampler afghan. I was flipping throu… Continue

Knitter's Destiny:

When I have done everything humanly possible (things I do not usually do because I can be impatient) to ensure that a project turns out right and not even three inches into the sweater I was hoping to wear in my sister's wedding, I realize with complete and utter horror that- somehow unbeknownst to modern science... it is six inches too big. All this leads me to think that one of two possibilities have found their way into my project:

Either I am going to get six inches larg… Continue

Having Fun!

I have been having fun reveling in my state of nothing to do, except trying to get ready for my sister's wedding and trying to find a job.

I have made a vow to get all of my ufo's to their furthest point of completion whether that be done or almost. But I have finished my first one! It is my second try at color work and I will admit that it was weaving in ends that kept me from finishing it but it is not an old ufo. I am proud of it. I changed the cable from the one used in the pattern and the… Continue

Yay!!!!!

Picture me doing a very lively happy dance in the rain (if Boise got rain). That is how I feel with school now gone and it is wonderful! At this point the best part is knowing that I am not going to go back until I regain the desire to be there... how ever long that takes. Now I can work and knit and read non-text book literature and sew and garden and sit on the couch and stare at the wall if I wanted too. Now I can play with all of the knitting ideas I have been thinking about. I am so excited… Continue
