I've lived in the Sacramento area all of my life. I work as a sign language Interpreter at an elementary school. I began in earnest to knit again in 2001, after my dad, father-in-law, and cousin died within a 2 month period. Knitting helped me "keep my sanity" and reminded me how much fun it was! I've been doing it since. Can't seem to put those needles down!
My family, husband, sons, "pretend granddaughter, and aunts, friends and the cancer center have all been recipients of various shawls, afghans, capelets, chemo hats, gloves, purses, and socks on many occasions.
Sorry about the afgan, when we get bored with something it is hard to finish or wating to start something new instead, sounds like you will finish it, a long time ago I made a ziz zag afgan, you know the ones that go up and down, in white and turquoise, and one day my husband came home and I was sitting on the floor surrounded by little balls, I had look at that afgan and told my self I don't like this, it was only being bored and out went an afgan, LOL, It would have been better to give it away, he never said a word, Hugs Irene
Went and looked up the aftgan, it is very beautiful and will be waiting to see the finished one you are making, I am making dishcloths still and a prayer shawl, purple , half lace and half, garter stitch, in row, hope to get it finished before too long. Hugs, Irene
Socks are so nice to carry,it fills time and in the end you have something to show, I need to cast a pair, I am trying to finish to shawls before the Holidays, and a lot of dish cloths. Better get going, Hugs, Irene
How is the knitting coming along now that school has started, guess we always find the time to knit something, are you still knitting those beautiful hats, Irene
I never though of felting the dish cloths, what a neat idea, I crochet some that are thick and that is my Ds first choice, I do like to make them, my GD just asked for some and told my D and she said me to, so will be knitting and crocheting. Hope all is well and happy knitting. Irene
Oh my friend, I don't know which one i like the best they are all so beautiful, I love the green one, I am trying to knit me a hat, yours are an inspiration and you have knitted so many, they should be welcomed with glee, had been thinking of you, I had oral surgery and things were not feeling to goog, but things are feeling a little better, Hope summer is treating you good, here's a glass of wine to share with you, Irene
Yes we are both very orginized then, I have of those large plastic boxes you can get any where, well I have7 of those full of yarn and yarn here and there, when I want something they have to be pulled out of the closet, then I can't walk in my room, aren't we just the happiest knitters, but is is a surprise to say Oh I did'nt remember that. Ha Ha, Irene
Hi, thanks so much for the heel turning advice. And, no, it was not confusing at all. The problem that I was having turned out to be a pattern error and the magazine editor contacted me with the omitted instruction. I liked your instruction better. I have never seen a sock book and that's my fault for not having done any homework prior to beginning my first pair! I am fearless about knitting and will try any pattern.
