Hi, Janet, Oh, can I relate to you and your Daughter! Been there, done that. Mine is now 35 w/2 teenage Sons, so her day is coming. Anyway, see if this URL will take you to a page of pictures of the socks in my KAL (knit along). Look down a few pix, for the Zig-Zag socks. They are striped and multicolored. Mine are a brown tweed color.
On a lark, yesterday, I entered a Tunisian crocheted afghan (my first) and a quilted table topper (also a first), at the county fair, in my hometown, and won 1st place on the quilt and 2nd place on the afghan. If I'd blocked that, I'd probably have gotten better marks, but 1st place was GORGEOUS, so maybe not. I'm still in "I can't believe it" mode.
I'm gone, for good, from Galveston. I'm living in my RV, for now, but have applied for a HUD apartment and in 2 wks moved from 22nd in line, to 10th, so could be moving again, before long.
I can relate to the flit from project to project, but socks seem to hold me longer, and so far, I've finished all that I've started, and doing 2 at a time has helped, too.
Hi, Janet, Sorry to be so long getting back to you. Life has been crazy since just before iIke. There seems to be BI and AI, these days. Things came to a head between my Daughter & me, about the middle of August, so I moved back into my RV and out of the Galveston house. I went to Willow Springs, up around Huntsville, til just before the end of the month. From there I came to Whitney, N of Waco. I went back to Galveston a coupld of wks ago and got a truckload of stuff from the house, which miraculously survived with a broken window pane (1/4 window) and a couple of upstairs window awnings. Ike missed me in Whitney. I'm glad you came through with flying colors, as well. I haven't heard how Marie's Yarn Shop came out, but she had some HUGE trees. I hope she fared well. I'm just about done with my Zig-Zag socks.
I live in Tomball. There are two that I like to go to. One is Twisted Yarns in Old Town Spring (It's my favorite). And the other one is the Hen House on Louetta in Spring. If you end up going to one, let me know what you think.
Hi, Janet. I just joined here, and I'm bikrgran on Ravelry. I live in Galveston. Try Marie's Yarn shop @ 411 S Friendswood (that's 518). She has a shop group that knits on Wed's from 11 til ?? She doesn't open til 11, either. She has a pretty good selection of yarn for a tiny shop. I'm going to go Wed, I think, as I'm having trouble with a short row heel. Take care and stay away from hurricanes.
