Thanks for the complements... I'm not sure how well deserved they are... I'm still learning and that isn't easy.
I'm a little south of you, so are temps may be a bit warmer right now... but all of that can change tomorrow.
Of course, I'm not dealing with a sick child and having to work everyday, so my life if pretty much easy to take. Hope all goes well. Happy Knitting.

You are very welcomed! Many of the sites I order from with have a box to click that says "continue shopping" or something like that. KP doesn't have that option.

Never worry about me staying warm. My DH is ususally freezing and turning up the heat, and I turn it down. Can't take anything much above 68 degrees. And if I do get cold - nearly never - I have plenty of knitted/crocheted/quilted throws in every room of the house.
Thanks for thinking about me :))

KP is not short sighted, they just don't tell you that after you update your cart you can click on the yarn tab, select something else and add that. That is what I do. It takes me several days to place an order because I change my mind so much.

Glad my weather story tickled you. Even though we were enjoying the lack of sub freezing temps, we also had some rain and possible high water to deal with. Luckily the rain stopped, things cooled off to the 40's and all is well again. Spring can't be too far away. That little ground hog is only right about 30% of the time from what I understand.

Oooo...books...yarn...books...yarn...books...
I hope I don't ever have to decide. But I will when the DH stops working. :-{ Then my SS check will have to go for food. [Sigh!]
It's nice I can listen to a nice audiobook while knitting! --Peggy

That's the problem with the website. They have so much good stuff. A knitting book is just the thing to look at in bed just before turning out the lights. --Peggy

That is very pretty. I heard something about a faroese shawl the other day and wondered what they looked like. If it's garter stitch, it is usually the kind of knitting you can do without a lot of concentration. Sometimes I love those. Just knit, knit, knit...

Thanks for the info.

Have you checked the book out on the KP website (the store part)? If you click on the little box below, you can see a selection of projects from the book. I really like that feature! --Peggy

Glad you liked my entrelac. Look for more in the near future, as I started another vest tonight. My neighbor acted as a model for me to be sure the size looked right - I'm a little too large to be a determining factor for something like that. And she like the vest so much, that my DH asked me to knit her one, too.

As far as making garments, it helps if you can measure your "victim" ahead of time and take measurements as different parts of the garment come together. Most patterns have several sizes that are pretty close to right, as has been my experience.

I'd like to know where you got your pattern for the Farose Shawl? I'd like to see it.

Happy Knitting.

She's Baaaaack!

Well, it has been very busy over here in Midwest-land. Strange weather. It's winter, it's spring, it's winter. Now it looks like spring, but with the temperatures of winter. Yesterday morning we had snow. Big snow flakes. The students marveled at the size of the snow flakes. "Mrs. Ex," they exclaimed, "the snowflakes are the size of marbles!" It was a little slippery, too, as evidenced by the traffice accident that occurred right outside of school. I never found out what happened, but there were… Continue

So, how do YOU relax?

I worked my rear-end off last week. Stayed at school Thursday night until 8:45 p.m., stayed up working at home until 11:00, got to school Friday morning before 7:00 a.m., helped set up 45 laptops in the Media Center (had to remove them and their batteries from carts, take them to tables, turn them on, etc.), and put the finishing touches on my presentation for Friday morning's Professional Development day before 8:00 a.m., for which I didn't get paid. Ahhh, welcome to the public sector!

So how… Continue

Midwest Weather is Strange

Last week it was so cold we had "severe weather alerts" for wind chill. This week we had a heat wave - In the 40's! Last night and today it snowed again. *SIGH* This is when I miss Los Angeles. I miss knowing what to expect weather-wise.

On the knitting front, I've not made much progress on my shawl. I've been sick, so I come home from work, fall asleep, skip dinner, wake up at 11:00 p.m., eat a PopTart, then go to bed. And repeat the next day. The head cold has morphed into some miserable flu-… Continue

The Snow is Melting - Slowly

Last week was soooo cold. How cold was it, you ask? It was below freezing! And the wind chill factor brought the temperature below zero! Yikes. So I am knitting....a shawl. It's a pattern I bought from Susan's Spinning Bunny (I think that's the name). The patterns is named: Faroese Shawlette, and it's very simple. All you need is a pretty yarn, and you let the yarn do the work >^_^< This is the second one I'm knitting. I knit the first for a friend. I used a merino/bamboo blend in a black… Continue

Snow, snow, and more snow

I'm originally from Los Angeles. So what am I doing in the flat, snowy midwest? Why, knitting shawls, of course! They're faster than a sweater. You can gain or lose a few pounds - no worries! Shawl to short? It's a shawlette. Best of all, I don't have to worry about knitting matching sleeves >^_^<</body>
