Sharing the gift of knitting.

Hi knitter's:

i just listened to Kelley's latest podcast. It was so nice hearing from the knitter's. Susan and Peggy have often helped me with a project. It was great hearing them for the first time!

Recently I gave my sister a gift of a loom knitting DVD. She brought a loom a year ago but was nervous about trying to do it. She came up to the house last weekend and we had a knit along. It was wonderful. She taught herself how to do itit and she made me a hat! Now I got her hooked on loom knitt… Continue

NY Sheep and Wool festival, knitting is an art form.

Hi fellow knitters:

This weekend is the Sheep and Wool festival in Rinebeck NY. This is my first fiber festival and I'm looking forward to it.

I hope to find some nicely spun yarn for John's sweater. I never tried spinning but I hope to see a demo there. Spinning to me looks hard and I don't know if I could do it. But I'm willing to give it try. I'm really pysch up for the festival after watching 'Craft in America' on PBS Sunday night. I don't know if anyone has watched part one of the series… Continue

The Joys of learning something new

Hi everyone. thank you all for responding to my last blog post. It was great hearing from you!

My new love has is modular knitting.

I went to the library and got a copy of Mason Dixon Knitting and Knits from a Painter's Palette. Great modular knitting books. I recently did the modular hexagon and it came out great. I used a skien of Koigu yarn for it. I was thinking that maybe if i used Knit Picks handpainted Stroll would that be good? I love the feel of the yarn. I made the Mason Dixon mitere… Continue

Learing new skills, new home and lot's of knitting

I haven't blogged in over a year, so much has happened. I now live in the country in upstate NY At first it was adjustment but in few months time, I got use to it. I feel much better. I was very sick when I was living in the city but now I feel much better. I think it has to do with the air quality up here.

I live in a artists community near an area called Sugar Loaf in Warrick NY. I love it here. I do alot more knitting and take long walks. I have taken different directions with my knitting.… Continue

News in a Stash: Episode 16: Fall, knitting and making Charity gifts.

Ever wonder what to do with those extra balls of yarn? Just make a few scarves and hats.

I went throgh some things and found alot of yarn that I'm using at the moment. Recently I brought a copy of Lynne Barr's book, "Knitting new scarves". It give you wonderful ideas on combinding yarns and making things into a work of art. It have given my ideas to take what I have and make into some nice winter girfts for friends.

Things up at the house are going well.

Most of the house is cleared up and it… Continue

Hi there! Usually knitted cable charts give you a key or legend that tells you whether you're cabling front (holding the cable needle and stitches to the front of the work) or back (holding the cable needle and stitches to the back of the work). Is there a key included with this chart that has any additional information?

Here's a link to our Knit Picks cable knitting tutorials, and here is a link to a cable tutorial on Knitty.com.

Hope this helps!

I'm having trouble reading cable chart patterns in the book, Cables Untangled. In the pattern the chart reads (C4 purl 4, knit 3, purl 2, C4 purl 4, knit 3, purl 2, C4, purl 4. knit 3, purl 2) in the pattern repeat. Does this mean? Could some tell me link that would tell me how to read cable charts?
