About Me:
I work as a technology coordinator (computer geek) for a small school district in northern Vermont. I started knitting about 8 months ago and have become totally hooked. I have worked up a few easy patterns of my own, but I'm always looking for new patterns and ideas to inspire me. I hope to acquire the skills to someday make my own socks and maybe even a sweater. It's like what my Grandfather always said, "a journey of ten thousands miles starts with a boarding pass and a ride to the airport".

I just joined the Mile High Club!!! Well, for knitters. I worked on this new scarf from a new pattern I created while flying to Chicago.

Are you a member of the Mile High Club (for knitters)? What have you worked on while in flight?

Please post photos here of your work.…

Springtime Scarf

Hello All,

This is the first knit pattern of my own devising, I call it Springtime Scarf... My wife Megan says it looks more like tire tracks. I guess in a way it does. Well, here's the pattern, give it a go and see what you think. Seeing as I'm kind of new at all of this I tried to keep it as simple as possible. I hope you like it.

Cast on 30 St (15 St increments)

Row 1: k Repeat to end of row.

Row 2: *(k1, k2tog, k3, yo-k1, k1, yo-k1, k3,…

Looking for a average age, length and diameter chart for mittens.

Posted on March 21, 2011 at 8:00am 1 Comment

Hello All,

I'm an active member of Baby Threads of New Hampshire, we knit scarves, hat and mittens for children and people in need. I am trying to create a pattern for mittens but need a little help with finding a chart that shows a range of measurements for hand sizes. I need a chart that can provide average age to size so that I can better work out the instructions. It can be a little hard to knit a pair of mittens for a 5 year old if you don't have idea how long a 5 year old's hand…

HELP! I need some stash busting projects.

Posted on March 20, 2011 at 4:14pm 3 Comments

I have a secret, I love to shop at thrift stores, it's not just that I'm frugal, (a polite word for cheap), but I love the thrill of the hunt. To that end I have over the past year found miles of yarn. my wife calls me a yarn slut. I had no idea how fast one could accumulate so much yarn, and even though I have done several projects I still lots of yarn to work with.

So if any of you know of any projects that could help me bust this stash please let me know.

Yes Polydactyl cats are wonderful- my Toepaz is very affectionate, but also mischievous. He likes to get vegetables brought in from the garden and pick them up with his super-paws!

hello Thomas, how are you? i see by your pics, that you have conquered knitting mitts in the round, likely by now you will have done the same with your socks which is something i have never achieved.. although to tell the truth, you have to want to do socks and i never have .. tell me what got your interest? to knit.. also tell me do you want to exchange conversation in knit picks, or are you just only interested in the learning aspect of kp,,, catch you later, keep on knitting, -norma--
