Hello back Mary! I understand about wanting leisurely travel! I hate to travel any more. My husband and I would drive, but it takes so much time...I have appts several times a year with my specialists in Seattle, WA. We stay with friends in Monroe, WA and they drive us to and fro. It takes about 1 1/2 hour from Monroe to SEA-TAC airport. Not bad.

My friend Jodi (in Monroe) lives next door to Gretchen who has www.gretchenswoollenmill.com
I just heard that Gretchen's sheep (Friesian or Corrieadale forget which) just dropped eight lambs!

Gretchen showed me how to set up my table loom (which is still at Jodi's until we can ship it home). Jodi spins the wool from the sheep as does Gretchen. It looks so relaxing...I loved weaving and can't wait to get my loom home. However, I'd have to really clean up my sewing room that houses my machine quilting frame, fabric and yarns.

We love our kitty - Fuzzer! In February we said goodbye to our little border terrier, Becky. She lived to be fifteen years old...we owned her for eleven years and we miss her very much. So, Fuzzer is the center of our attention as we don't have any children. Just nieces and nephews.

The cake your youngest daughter made sounds like it was really cool! I've been obsessed with making cookie bouquets lately and have discovered the joy of rolled fondant! Yippee, is it easy and fun to press with all kinds of textured mats!

My sewing is focused on quilts and I've explored machine felting too...there just isn't enough time after working all day to do all the things I want to do!

by the way, our cat is a Pixiebob! She's still a bit wild, but when she decides it's time for attention - you had better stop what you are doing and pay attention to HER HER HER!

I get a lot of yarn from Elann.com. However, I love Knitpicks too and recently invested in the new knitting needles with the variegated colored wood. Circular needles are my favorit as I have Rhuematoid Arthritis in my hands...they just seem to 'fit' better! I'll remember to try the Alpaca Cloud...

Just out of curiosity, what does your handle "ice" mean?

Well, better start thinking about dinner. I wish you luck getting your gown done by Friday. I'd love to see a picture of the baptism (with cake of course).

Cheers! sjk

Hello Sheila,
Thought to answer u when i still can. This sunday is Katie's Baptism and we 'r all very busy. I also see that have spelled Denali wrong all the time. I doubt we will make Alaska this summer, but, we r planning to fit it in next year. Still piecing out what the best routing to and fro would be. We like to travel at our leisure, so frm NJ to AK would take us at least 1 wk to 10 days. There are always so many spots we like to see and take pix.
I have seen Quiviut in pix. Dont think I ever held it. I like to feel the yarns before I buy. I have knit a lot in 100% cashmere and i love the Alpaca Cloud from KNit picks. It seems to get softer with each washing!. I too like to cook and sew, although i leave the baking to our youngest daughter. She makes the most original cakes ever. Latest: a bright RED car (windshield eyes, front grill as teeth....)for our grandsons 2nd Bday. he could not keep his little hands out of it! We r all wondering what she'll come up with for the Christening?
Right now I am sewing a "granny" nightgown fr myself, and promised me it WOULD be done by friday.
Like your cat! She looks like Erica's (granddaughter) Spunky.
Talk to you soon

AK, is that Alaska? I just bgot a book about Arctic Lace! it is about Alaskan lace knitting. It is beautiful. I love to knit lace, but am usually busy knitting for the grandkids.
Alaska is one of the destinations that my husband and I would like to visit in our motorhome. I would love to go camping in the Dinali State Forrest....soon I hope. Would like to go during the summer, I am a warm weather person.
Drop me a line,
Ingrid

Hello Mary, hmmm, native animal...maybe my cat? She's a Pixiebob and her underfur is very like the color of musk ox.

There wouldn't be any animals here but farther up north ie quiviut.

Tell me where you are!

Sheila, I have visited Ketchikan once about 25 years ago. It is very beautiful country. Does Ketchikan have a native animal that produces any specialty fibers?
Thank you.
Mary
