Sorry it took me so long to reply. I'm knitting two socks at the same time right now. My first time and it's not for first time sock knitters. I love knitting with two circular needles. I've knit all sorts of things using the technique. You can do sleeves, hats, anything that you would use double points to knit. Sometimes I adjust the pattern so I can knit it without seams. It's not that I dislike sewing things together, it's just that I'd rather be knitting. I'm attaching a picture of my latest project.
Hi to you -
Always good to hear from another kindergarten teacher - I find that knitting helps my brain switch off "school stuff" and relax. I am working on hats - I like smaller projects. I am about to start a lace edge hat from a Louisa Harding book "Hats, Gloves, and Scarves." The pattern says to knit it on straight needles and then seam the back - but I do not like to seam - I'd like to knit it in the round. Can I just cast on the called for number of stitches and do it in the round? Or are there pitfalls I need to be aware of?
Nice to hear from you,
Kathleen
Hi,
We are rural too. Many cows, horses, sheep, ostrich (or r they emu's?), wild turkeys, turkey vultures and some people have chickens in the yard too. Rabbits galore! We have a couple owl nests in our trees as well as falcons and many other birds. We only have 1 cat now, our granddaughter's Erica's buddy Spunkie, which wears a little bell around her neck! It gives the birds a flying chance. Love your pooches face.
I read some of the comments on your page and am amazed at so many people knitting sox on circs! I have tried many times and find it frustrating....
Usually i dont go on the computer over the weekends, cause they tend to be very bussy. Had a lovely surprise party for our daughter's 40th Bday on saurday. Rest up on Sunday. Watching Baseball and knitting, and dozing in my recliner!
Hope you had a fun weekend too.
Hi new friend.
I've never knitted socks with double points but I've really gotten into the two circulars. I use the technique for all sorts of things-cell sox, with leftover sock yarn. My next sock project is knitting two socks at the same time-from Knitting Circles Around Socks. I just hate the counting and recounting of rows for the second sock.
Happy knitting!
Sure, I have not done this before, so you will be my first knitting friend. I have a stash of yarn, however, not as much as some of the people who blog on Knitters Review which I've read. I don't usually buy for a project in mind, but because of a sale. The yarn which I buy for projects generally gets used up for those.
Oh Ingrid...I LOVE that idea! We have 2 nieces/cousins who are having babies this summer/fall and that would be a wonderful gift for them. I never thought of doing that. Can't wait to tell the girls! One daughter is in Greece right now and will need something quick to do when she returns. She's been knitting hats with yarn she brought with her and will be ready for a new project.
I love the pics of your blankets. They are beautiful! They look sooo soft!
Forgot to tell you as how to provide all that knitting stuff for one small person. All of u can take the same weight of yarn, but in a different color. Each of you then knit a square with a favorite stitch or pattern. Then you pass on that yarn and knit another, and so on.....When you have enough for a blanket, knit them, stitch them or crochet them together. He'll have a unique "family" blanket for life. It's something I have always wanted to do, but alas i have NO knitting buddies in the family......So I knit each "new" baby a special blankie out of cashmere. So that's my indulgence.
Hi Pinehill,
My name is Ingrid. Lucky you, to have your kids to knit with you! Mine think it is my "harmless" hobby. I have tried with my granddaughter 11, but, so far she only shows intrest in the cloths (and yes sox) for Sara her American Girl doll. Last thing I knitted for her (granddaughter Erica!) was a pair of pink cashmere legwarmers, and a matching set for Sara. Erica is a dancer and they recently moved from sunny Florida back to new Jersey. Brrr, she's always cold.
Where is Pinehill? What state?
Have a great weekend, I sent u a request to be a knitting friend.
We'll talk soon.
