About Me:
I have taken up knitting again at the end of 2005 after having been taught by my mum (brave and patient and very deserving) in my early teens. Since then my fingers hardly stand still. During my 4 hours commute each day I usually knit two of those. Weekends go by doing chores and enjoying another project in the evenings watching TV or a movie. One or the other project is always in my bag, so Knitting In Public days are just "well, what's new".
Other hobbies: riding my motorbike, reading, walking our dog...

One more UFO still flying about - but hopefully coming to a gently land / finish soon.

Alright, now I've got officially another WIP / UFO. This one is a UFO that I've been to the frog pond more often than I care to count.
See, I got this lovely yarn at my LYS and was sure (and assured) that I had WAY enough yarn for a sweater for me. What I didn't factor in was the fact that everyone thinks I'm around 2 sizes smaller than I really am - not sure why (no, it's not being polite; it's honest surprise on the faces when I spill the beans). So I've got around 1540 yards in a yarn that is… Continue

Need your help, please

I know, I don't blog too regularly. But now I have to add a second blog post to my previous one from today.

My dilemma? Simple. I've promised my DH to knit down my stash. And I honestly would love to. Trying hard, too. Made good progress. But now I start having problems. Like having yarn but not being sure what to knit with it. I like the yarn. But I just can't picture what to make with it.

So here's the first lot I like to tackle.

Around 500g of Sunbeam Floret in bon bon pink. I mean PINK. J… Continue

Finally two FO's - two presents for DH, that is

Can't believe it's two weeks since I last blogged. Time flies by. And yes, I've finished something.

You remember DH's shawl? Well, I finally finished that Tuesday or Wednesday, washed it and fell in love with it yet again. If he doesn't like it, well, tough. Just as a reminder, here's a picture of it when it was nearly done (except for the last 3 inches because I ran out of yarn).

Hello Maria! It's been a while since I've talked to you, lol. I am hoping all is well with you and yours. I found an old (1937) sweater pattern today that I think my DD would love. I know it is English, as they called it a jumper. It calls for a size 7 needle to do the casting on and ribbing in and then you change to a size 1 needle for the body of the sweater. I am assuming that in the UK the smaller the needle size, the larger the needle. Am I correct, and if so - do you know what a UK 7 and 1 are in either US or MM? Thanks, Wendy
ps. BEWARE! I have a missing UFO! I have been looking for it for several months now and can't seem to find it anywhere. I really want to use the yarn, but more importantly - need the needle that is attached to it. You haven't happened to see some red and cream cascade yarn floating around on a size 5 bamboo needle anywhere, have you???? LOL

Thanks for your comments. That is such a brilliant suggestion for adding the sleeves into the cardie and doing it all as one. Especially as I'm not sure what I will have left for the sleeves and was going to try to knit them shoulder to cuff. Thanks so much!!! I expect I will have double the amount of stitches on my needle, but I have an 80cm length circular needle. I'm a long way off the sleeves at the moment, but this is my knit that is the one i can do while watching TV. If you do get the K1 slip 1 out of sequence, it doesn't really matter or show as it is random. I'm struggling to keep up at the moment - still too many sweets in the candy shop.

Hi! It's nice to meet you. We had a great time last night at my sister's wedding. I think I will have a little down time before Halloween. I hope to start a new project soon. Take care. :-)
