I want to learn to knit a sweater.....I've knit socks, scarfs, hats, etc but I would like to enhance my knitting skills and be able to wear a sweater that I knit with pride :) My questions to this wonderful world of knitters on this site - How did you begin to knit sweaters? We have an electronic bulletin board at work and on Friday someone posted they wanted to sell 15 balls of wool. Yahoo! I got to the posting in time. I am now the proud owner of 15 balls of Red Heart yarn for $20.00. The colour is varigated (sp?) - bright green, blues, pinks (if I remember correctly).... I'm very happy to report that actually finished one sock last weekend - yeah! It's an ankle sock - you would think it would be longer (thigh high) for the length of time it took me. It turned out pretty good, even if I did make that mistake at the heel. The next one will be better and hopefully won't take as long.

I got a lot accomplished on my sock yesterday - yes, sigh, it's the same one that I started knitting in September...... However, while finishing the gusset, I realized that I had been decreasing on needle 3 in the wrong spot (should have decreased at the begining of those stitches on needle 3 but instead I decreased at the end on that needle). I know it's probably criminal and I would love to have a perfect first sock but I'm not going to rip it out. I've ripped this sock twice already and refus… Continue
