About Me:: Refreshing my knitting skills, taking classes and loving it! Hope to make many many projects.

So far I've knitted scarfs, 2 dickies (turtle neck with no sleeves or body) a dog sweater and wrist warmers (fingerless gloves). I'm now working on a pair of socks. I'm a very slow knitter but I am trying - love the art!

Two socks at once

It's been a very long time since I logged in - life happens I guess. I'm so glad I remembered my ID and password - it is so nice to see everyone's projects.

I've finally taught myself how to knit two socks at once from the toe up a couple weeks ago. It was confusing at first but once I got going, I sure found it a lot more comfortable holding two points. And hopefully, with knitting both socks at once, I won't suffer from Second Sock Syndrome :D

Itchin to learn but where to begin

I want to learn to knit a sweater.....I've knit socks, scarfs, hats, etc but I would like to enhance my knitting skills and be able to wear a sweater that I knit with pride :) My questions to this wonderful world of knitters on this site - How did you begin to knit sweaters? Can it be learned from a book? Unfortunately my favourite wool shop has classes but not on how to knit a sweater.......Where would I begin? Do I jump past this fear I have and just start? We have an electronic bulletin board at work and on Friday someone posted they wanted to sell 15 balls of wool. Yahoo! I got to the posting in time. I am now the proud owner of 15 balls of Red Heart yarn for $20.00. The colour is varigated (sp?) - bright green, blues, pinks (if I remember correctly).... LOL - I bought it sight unseen (she did have a picture of it) and I will be picking it up on Monday. I almost started dancing in my office, I was so excited. First sock done and second one started!

I'm very happy to report that actually finished one sock last weekend - yeah! It's an ankle sock - you would think it would be longer (thigh high) for the length of time it took me. It turned out pretty good, even if I did make that mistake at the heel. The next one will be better and hopefully won't take as long.

Argh - my sock

I got a lot accomplished on my sock yesterday - yes, sigh, it's the same one that I started knitting in September...... However, while finishing the gusset, I realized that I had been decreasing on needle 3 in the wrong spot (should have decreased at the begining of those stitches on needle 3 but instead I decreased at the end on that needle). I know it's probably criminal and I would love to have a perfect first sock but I'm not going to rip it out. I've ripped this sock twice already and… Continue

I've only had Honey for 2-1/2 months . She was starved for affection and had
internal injuries, from which she has recovered with my excellent care. She's still pretty needy but not as much so as when I got her. She's my best buddy too. I think rescued dogs make the most affectionate and appreciative dogs.

Did you get your first pair of socks finished? I'm struggling with my first pair.
True to form, I chose a difficult pattern to start. I just never learn.

What is your darling dog's name? Looks a bit like my Honey, whom I rescued about 2 months ago. She's about a year old and I love her so. I live alone and have no family but a sister 3,000 miles away. She is great company - very loving with just a touch of ornery.

Back to the socks. I am having a good time. Kind of surprised me. Of course I haven't turned a heel yet. I feel like that's looming over me like a vulture but I'm very good at following written instructions and I'm really determined. Thanks for the prayers, I'll get busy with the ones for you.
