You like to feel the fiber? That's the main reason I took up spinning, I think! I know what you mean, but I've had such good luck with Knit Picks' yarn, and driving to the yarn shop is such a hassle. Now's a good time, with the sale. I'm putting together an order now, so I can take advantage of it. (No, I'm not on the payroll!) I do get to see other yarns and occasionally buy them. I'm in a knitting group, and get to see what other people get locally. But price is also an issue, as we are both retired. --P
Hi, Margaret! I live in Park City, UT, and up until the last 6 months, the closest yarn shops were in Salt Lake City. Now we have two LYSs, but they don't have much, so I do virtually all my shopping online, mostly at KnitPicks. We lived in the Houston area twice, and we liked it much better the second time. Mostly the weather. I was already retired when DH's job brought him back a few years ago. Thank heaven for Knit Picks, right? --P
Sorry to say there are no yarn shops in Waco. The closest are Dallas, Houston and Austin and they are all over 100 miles away. I do all my yarn shopping online, mostly at Knitpicks but am always pleased with their yarns. I moved here 6 years ago from Wisconsin and had to go 50 miles there to the nearest yarn shop so it seems normal for me. I hope you survive this Texas heat.
Thanks for the reply. Sorry to say Waco doesn't have any yarn shops either. The closest are in Austin and Dallas so I do all my shopping mostly on Knitpicks and a few other online sites. I moved here from Wisconsin 6 years ago and had to drive 50 miles to yarn shops there also so I am used to it. I still have a lot of trouble with the summer heat.
Margaret, there are several. Go to this link (you may need to cut and paste it into your URL): http://www.knitatnight.org/links.html. This is the local guild's links to all the local shops. I've been to Yarns 2 Ewe, Nancy's Knits and Yarntopia. Y2E is probably the largest of those 3 but they are all nice shops. And I've heard good things about the others. Hope you have fun! Please let me know if you need any further information! And thanks for thinking of me to ask. I love to help when I can.
Good morning. I live in Waco so we are almost neighbors. I am a self taught knitter but have been doing it for a very long time. Give me a shout sometime.
i love knitting and am excited to have new friends to share ideas and projects with. I love the online tutorials....you can watch again and again until you get it!!! Thanks for the invite! Michele
