Lorraine, I thought I would leave my comments here instead of cluttering up the KAL discussion with so many side issues. Spinning books. I purchased two books, and one came with my drop spindle. The most helpful of the three is a book entitled Start Spinning, by Maggie Casey is by far the best! If you click on the book title, it will take you to the KP page with the book on it. The book is normally 21.95, but KP has it on sale now for 14.93. I bought it on sale, too.
I've never heard of the machine you are talking about but will have to investigate... that sounds very interesting.
As far as buying rovings and other fibers, there is a wide variety of places that sell different types of fiber suitable for spinning.
I recently purchased a fleece (Corriedale), which had been skirted but not washed. It took me all Thursday afternoon to wash it, and couldn't have done it without the assistance of my husband. It is spread out of a screen on he enclosed backporch not, and not quite dry.
I'll be glad to answer other questions if you have any. I do love spinning, but not quite as much as my knitting.
