I learned to knit when I was quite young, I haven't done much over the years because of work, but I am now ready to knit. The problem is there are so many things to knit I don't know where to start.

Guess you will have to see what grabs your interest,in your picture ,are those your grandsons, nice sweaters would most probably fun to make, nice looking boys, Irene Soileau
I've made at least a half dozen Baby Surprise sweaters....I think it is adorable and fun to knit. I found a chart on the 'net that makes it easier to knit. If you want it, I'll be happy to send it to you. It's really more of a foemula than a pattern and you just have to follow it blindly and then EUREKA! you have a sweater. It is not really a baby size...more of a toddler size.
I haven't used the yarn you referred to, but I've been more than happy with all the KnitPicks yarns.
And...no, I haven't done any more shawls from the Shawl book...but I do have several I'd like to do.
What a nice compliment! Thank you so much.
I used Knitpicks Gloss and am very happy with the way it workeed up.
The pattern really was a joy to knit...just be sure to put markers on your needles for each repeat and you shouldn't have any trouble, at all.
