My "Vertical Stripes" socks are from a book called Knitted Socks--it's a big, hardbound book. So far, I haven't needed it for directions, because all I'm doing is garter stitch for 12 inches, & it takes awhile when you're working on size 2 needles!! When I do need it, I'm going to make a copy of the page so I don't have to carry the whole big book around with me all the time.
Portland has also been having STRANGE weather this week!! (And that's putting it mildly.) Plus, I don't think our weather forecasters have gotten it right yet, which is a pain because I keep going out dressed in all the wrong clothes! (Too warm on HOT days, and too cool on COLD days.)
Anyway, about knitting socks--try it, you'll like it. (or maybe I should say, try it, you'll be hooked!) The socks from Knitted Socks that I'm making would also be good for a beginning sock knitter because they start out knitting flat, garter stitch--then you sew the back seam, turn down the cuff, & pick up stitches around the edge to do the foot! (If my explanation doesn't make sense, try the Knitted Socks book--they're called "Vertical Stripes".Or do you have a pattern picked out already? Good luck! Joanne
