Knitting the Lusekofte

My swatch taught me much, and the measurements are right, so I've begun the sleeves (each on separate needles).

It was so much fun to knit this project while watching the Vancouver 2010 Olympics! I was thrilled to see how the mountains on the TV looked just like the mountains in the sweater pattern!

I'm still working the sleeves. I had to restart the bracelets to get the gauge right, to fine-tune my color-work techniques, and to get a nice fabric with even stitches. It…

At 11:28am on July 11, 2010, Knitweaver said…: In dyeing the merino silk yarn for my friends lace cap, I got some unexpected results (or, I should have figured it would happen) in that the yarn became very dark.
I was going for sections of yellow over layed with turquoise and blue, to obtain two greens. However, when I attemped to transfer it to my heatsource, crockpot, the dyes ran through the whole piece and it bacame one gorgeous semi solid of forest green with deep blue sections. Beautiful but wrong. :-(
guess what, I'll have to buy another skein. My friend really like the test swatch I sowed her, no next time, I'm going to go easy on the dark colors and maybe set the yellow before applying the blues.
