About Me:
I've been knitting for eight years now, or since I was 12 years old. I taught myself from a book (Knitting (Kids Can Do It) by Judy Ann Sadler). I am what Elizabeth Zimmerman calls a "Lookinglass Knitter", meaning I knit completely backwards and left handed. This doesn't bother me, but a lot of people get confused when they try to watch me! I'm hoping to make my first forays into the realm of design in the new year.

Testing, testing, One-Two-Three!

My last blog post disappeared into the ether, so let's see how this one fares. I've finished my mom's Christmas socks, and just past the toe of my sister's second sock (toe-ups). I'm also about 1/4 of the way through dad's scarf. Cumulatively, this means that I'm ahead of schedule! Hooray!

Here's a picture of mom's socks (modelled by your's truly):

I love how the pooling turned out, and the stripey toes…

Can't Post... Spinning.

My new spindle arrived today! That's one day lost on my Christmas knitting, and my other (almost finished) spinning will just have to wait. I'm spinning lace weight, and I'm happy as a clam. =) I'll take pictures when I can pry myself away from the spindle long enough to use two hands.

Three to go!

I finished mom's first sock last night (while watching mr.Bean hehe)! Yay! That means that I only have three socks left to knit! I also wound the wool for dad's hat and scarf, and will probably start one or the other this weekend. I'm going to wait to post a picture until the second one is done, just to get the full effect.

Also, I ordered a drop spindle yesterday! I…

Christmas Socks

I love the Christmas episode of mr.Bean, when he jumps out of bed in the morning and finds his stocking. "Look Teddy, Christmas socks!" he exclaims, pulling one sock out of the other. That line keeps popping into my head as I work on my mom's Christmas socks. One would think that I would have plenty of time to work on these socks in secret because I'm home all day while mom's working, but it's surprisingly difficult to sneak the time in. The first problem is my fault. I'm not a morning…

Hello everyone! I've been gone for what seems like forever! Real-life-y stuff got in the way of me posting for awhile, but I think I can manage now =)

I'll confess I started another blog, but it has a wider range than just my knitting (and only has 5 consistent viewers lol), and I think I can handle two at once.

I guess the first big, exciting new thing to share is that on Monday I got a huuuuge box of…

Yes, if you needed to take time out both emotionally and financially, there is nothing wrong with that!

Never give up your hope for school. Keep after it. I know you may have to take breaks, but that's okay. After my DH got out of law school he tried to talk me into going. At that time women either had children or went to law school and my biological clock was ticking. So we had a family. Well, 9 years later he talked me into law school. And at 38 with an 8, 5, and 3 year old and a 5 month old, I started law school. I went part time and began with night classes. He would get off work and pick up the kids in front of the law school. I would go to class, come home, hit the books to study while the wee one nursed. Some how we managed to get through it all. So never give up your dream for school.

I just started spinning late May, early June. I don't know why I waited so long. I absolutely love it! I see you are in school. I wish I had been knitting when I was in school. I'm so in love with everything fiber. Don't mean to push in that direction, but that's where I would lean. Best of luck in school. Take your time with the spinning. Spin about 10 minutes a day at first and it will happen quicker than you think. Just know it can also lead to a desire to dye also.
