I love knitting Christmas items!

I've been on a Christmas kick lately. I Made the Falling Snow Stocking, found on Ravelry, with Wool of the Andes Bulky in Wine and Bare. I'm pretty proud of my 2nd "Color Work" item (if 2 color items don't count, I'm sorry for the use of the phrase).

I also got the Tidings of Joy kit and a few… Continue

FO!

I finished the Diamond Lace Stole from the March 09 Creative Knitting for my best girl friend Erin. It is in Simply Soft in Violet. It is a few days after her birthday now, but she loved the socks so I think it is ok. I still need to block this and I really wish I had the blocking wires. I was conside… Continue

An offer I can’t refuse

Yesterday we went to our niece’s second birthday party. I was talking to my SIL’s FIL and he said something about how girls don’t take up sewing and knitting and crochet like they used to. I said I can knit and crochet and would sew if I could afford a machine. He got excited and asked what kind of things I can make and I told him I stick to smaller things like baby blankets and socks and such. He asked me to make an afghan. Avery, our niece, was his first grandchild and he had a neighbor make o… Continue

My best friend's birthday presents

It's been a while since I've posted anything, but I haven't quit knitting. I was contracted to work through the summer and was hoping for a permenate position, but no such luck. The good news it that I've had time for knitting again. I've been working on a wrap and socks for my BFF Erin. Her birthday is the 26th and I was hoping to have both items done. Unfortunately, chances aren’t looking good. The socks will be done but she asked for a lacy wrap… the socks were my little extra. I worked forev… Continue

Hi, Katy Lynn: Eddy was a rescue dog. His owner, Annemarie, doesn't know what he is, but he seems to have some kind of terrier in him, maybe Cairn. He's very compliant, though, which is unusual for terriers. He doesn't like to swim, but will lie down in the water when it's hot. We have been hiking with him ever since Annemarie got him. Rocky and Sunny love him! --P

Just saw your latest blog and just had to take a look at your page. Your projects and your pictures of yourself and your DH are so lovely. You look really happy and content. Congratulations to your wedding, even a "little" belated. LOL. Had to laugh at the picture of you and DH in front of Jimmy Buffets Margharitaville. :)
Happy knitting! Maria

How fun! I live with my parents and this is the first time we have had a yard to do anything with so it is an experience learning what to do with it and exciting seeing what things are tough as nails and which aren't. I am glad you're well : )

Hello, how are you doing? How is the pesticide/herbicide job?

Thanks for the comment back : ) There is definitely a lot to know about pests and weeds. They are always there but if you don't keep an eye on them and control their numbers, that's when they can cause money-loosing damage. Just let me know! I love talking about plants!!

How is the sweater coming? I have one like that- a back and a front and no sleeves. It might have sleeves some day. Your sweater looks great! The socks too!

Thanks for adding me as a friend. Usually when I knit a pair of socks I use the smaller size (6) for the ribbed cuff, and the size 7 for the sock itself. A lot of this depends on how tightly you knit. If you are a tight knitter, you may have to go up a size. This is where gauge swatches really help determine what size needle to use for the yarn in your project.

I saw on your blog that the socks you so skillfully knitted came out too small. I noticed that you were knitting using Simply Soft just to figure it all out. I have a sock pattern that I use for Simply Soft and it takes size 6 and 7 needles. I'm not sure what size needles you used for your socks, but this may have been the problem. I just thought my past experience might help you. Susan
