About Me:
I am a music teacher in Massachusetts enjoying my new married life. I have been knitting for so long now... probably about 15 years. My grandmother taught me when I was 11. I have been kind of in a rut making things for people (mostly blankets and scarves) so I am excited to be working on some new things--- any help is greatly appreciated!

Justine MacKechnie's Blog

been awhile

Posted on April 4, 2011 at 3:50pm 3 Comments

It has been so long!!!  I am blogging furiously here...  I am working on some projects and have been expanding my repertoire (techniques, yarns, patterns) but have some questions:

How much does blocking really matter?  and where do I get the stuff to block with (the liquid)?

Thanks and Happy Knitting!

Here is the completed sock for my hubby:

It's pretty good, right?  For the first one, anyway!  I can't wait to finish up the pair so I can make a pair for…

a new addiction?

Posted on January 20, 2011 at 6:42am 10 Comments

Hi everyone!  Well this week has left me with a cold, time off from work, a sore bottom (I'll explain in a bit) and a new addiction!  Where do I start?  OK.  Monday was a holiday from school and a friend from college invited me to her knitting group at a delicious coffee shop in Warren (mmmmmmmm peppermint tea- out of the CUTEST little tea pot... so adorable!).  I went to learn how to knit socks... I have been dying to try them out, but got scared!  So, I go to the group and low and behold-…

Happy New Year!

Posted on January 6, 2011 at 6:30am 4 Comments

Happy New Year, everyone!  I hope you were able to spend the holidays with all your loved ones and friends like I was!  For me (and I'm sure you all too), December is such a rushed time... with presents to buy and wrap, baking to get done and delivered, meals to get prepared, decorations to be set up, lights to be hung, diets to be forgotten... that there is little time (unless its simply rushing) to spend knitting.  And boy did I rush...  I finished 2 scarves, 3 wash clothes, and 5…

Hi Justine! I'm excited to have a new friend here. A little about me...I knit for my Etsy shop www.theartfulyarn.etsy.com and keep very busy with that. I knit dishcloths, scarves (lace & wool), baby hats, women's hats, and men's hats. I love to knit. You will always find me sitting in my favorite chair with my sticks in my hand.

I'm a writer who loves to be a wife, mother, grandma, sister, daughter and friend to many. I'm so glad you found me.

Your work is beautiful, and have a happy married life, I do the same thing, knit or crochet and then give it away, I could fill a small bedroom with all I have done and given away. but it sure is fun isn't it, you will like this site very much. Irene

No problem! We've all learned from mistakes here. Don't think I haven't gotten in trouble myself. Just wanted to let you know. Welcome to this great group.
