Joan,
You should really check out Kelley Petkun's video tutorials over in the Sock Knitting KAL. They are very good. And they would probably help you a lot. --S
I find that magic loop is now the only way that I will knitt socks. The book is very easy to understand and it is really reasonable price wise. Let me know if you need any help! Knit On!!
It's extremely easy. Just knitting in the round with decreases at the crown. I did it with the two strands of yarn just for the look. It made a really dense fabric, as you can see. My daughter loves this hat and the other 3 I made her in different color combinations. The books has dozens of wonderful hats for every shape face. I've made several hats from it and never had a complaint. Oh, I used two circulars to make the hat rather than a small circular or dps.
It's the
Tamara hat I think from Hip Knit Hats. I used a worsted wool with an old KP Twist yarn. I've also done it with a Trellis and a worsted. Glad you like it. I made it for my daughter.
Joan, the baby bib pattern was on a "peaches & Cream ball of yarn. You can also get the pattern from the Bernat site. Just type in
Bernat handicrafter cotton baby knit bibs and booties
and it should take you there. I knit my baby wash cloths and baby bibs with 'Cotlin' yarn from KnitPicks. The more you wash the item the softer it gets. So I really like this yarn for babies. The baby bootee pattern I like best is knit with five dpns and is SIMPLE - really! Anyway, enjoy the baby bib pattern.
I'll be here for a while in the monring, but I'm taking my cousin out for lunch to celebrate her new job, which she starts on Monday. I'll be back some time in the afternoon.
That is the way it is with groups (whether church or not), there are people who always chip in and help, and others who just sit and watch. It's human nature.
I put a comment on here before and must have pushed the wrong button, so here goes again.
1. Once you get your stitches cast on and divided in half, move your stitches closer to the points of the needle tips and exchange the first in last stitches (this will remove the little indentation that can form at the beginning your knitting. Move the first st on the front needle to the back needle, and what WAS the first stitch on the back needle to the front needle.
2. Be sure that your cast on stitches are not twisted when you line them up front to back - twisted stitches will mess you up every time.
3. With needles parallel to one another, take the back needle tip and pull some of the slack out of the cable and knit across the front needle.
4. Turn your knitting around and line everything up again, and again take the back needle (this use to be your front needle), pull out the slack and knit across the front needle. You have completed one complete round. Continue in this same manner until finished.
I'll be around all evening... leave a comment if you have other problems.
