Wow! This avatar caught my eye while I was leaving a message for Cheryl, so I just had to see who had done it. This is beautiful, simply beautiful! It reminds me of fireworks, or fuchsias. Your work really quite lovely. Wendy
Ciao! G~
MOEBIUS - I never did make a moebius scarf 'cause i didn't think I would use it... or have someone to give it to. yes... it's the same cast on thing that I was doing with the bags and bowls....quite honestly... once I finised a couple of bags. i decided I like a straight shoulder strap a bit better as the moebius concept just didn't twist right. It looks kinda cool on a felted bowl though.... but then i got to thinkin about THAT ... what the heck do people use these knitted bowls for anyway? All in all... it was a fun adventure while it lasted!
INTERCHANGABLES - I think I would like the KP interchangables (possibly?) although the Denise are REALLY handy to quickly change out. I'm assuming the KP interchangeable use the little "Key' thing? I tried another brand of that concept and A) kept losing the key... and B) the tips kept getting loose and falling off in the middle of my work..... so I guess I would just have to try them to see if it's my cup of tea.
"THE RUG" - I have to agree with you on that !......LOL! When I saw the first picture of it I thought... wow... tedious but cool picture painted with yarn....THEN I saw the WHOLE thing draped over someone's shoulders and thought... Holy Crap! I wonder how heavy that thing is.?... I mean it's HUGE! (i just thought of something... I'm probably "shedding" friends as I speak witht the way I'm wording things....... oh well... If people can't take me for who I am... that's their problem!)i
Dang it.... I keep losing where my curser is on this thing.... I'm sitting here with a big Alaskan Malamute right next to me..... she is in the throws of a personal distres.... and is right in my face as I type.... you see... a small "designer dog" came into our yard late yesterday afternoon while we were in the pool.... living on a golf course equates to having various small creatures coming through the iron (not so private) fencing that we all have to conform to... anyway....Kita just about ate the thing.... or at least she looked like she was going to before we wisked this little girl up into our arms! It's a Chinese Crested...(I'll have to take a picture!) you know the kind.... absolutley hairless with the exception of the LOOOOOONNNGGG hair on the head.... LOL! It's actually a really great dog and it Loves our Tonkinese cat! It has spent the night in our daughter's room as she has an attached bathroom - - - so it was perfect for food/water and "puppy pads" on the floor (Just in case!) I did put a sign out front but so far no one as come by to see what sort of "found dog" we have! I don't want to turn it over to the humae society as I don't know exactly how "humane" they are down there! I may be forces to here in a bit as it's not the safest home for her with Kita Bear around every corner!
Well... I suppose I should get up here and move on with my day.... talk soon!

Hey!~~~
I almost replied right after you posted.... geez... 2:22AM ... looka at all thoses twos! It was actually after four here but -wide awake I was! Ended up just listening to the storm outside instead........
Okay... let's see.... yup the two at a time sleeve thing for sweaters works best for me... as for socks... the only reason started knitting them was to try out that two at a time on really looooong circular needle technique as I had never done that sort of knitting prior to my first pair of socks. I guess I got a bit bored with socks as the last pair I started in January is still just sitting.... I have to have a variety of different projects going at one time... just in case I get bored. (I swear I have adult attention deficit!)
Oh... have you ever tried doing anthing with a moebius cast on....now that's a really interesting idea as well - I was intrigued by Cat Bordhi's book - A Second Treasury of Magical Knitting.... Bought a whole set of Denise interchangeable needles for that little learning experience! Plus an extra long cable.... made two bags, and an interesting felted bowl.... kinda fun and very quick knits.
I see you've done scarves... I tried a few before the Holidays and gave them as gifts. I like how mindless they can be!
Repeats on lace for the Motavilla.... I think I did 11........I've already mailed off the bag along with another for a mother's day gift.
Sewing... I don't mind sewing sweaters as it's a REALLY big needle and more like weaving to me than sewing. I like to experiment with different finishing techniques as well... for instance I LOVE doing I-cord bind off on things like pockets and certain other edges. I think on this new project I doing with the City Tweed i'm going do a different bind off for the collar edging... something new that I've not tried before... another learning experience to keep my interest!
My comments on the tote pattern - they were sincere! in fact I was "gentle" with my written comments! LOL! I was actually thinking something worse! A bag design like this should greet all audiences - experienced or not- with a pleasant experience.... It did not. PERIOD!
Ditto on your comments about Buddha - I'll have to include a pic of our " Christmas Buddha" that kip got us one year... literally for Christmas! I LOVE him... he's so big and red and has such a nice round belly to pat! I have a little carved one too that I wear around my neck at times. I thought by your last name you had a Japanese background!
Well I've rattle on long enough I suppose... thank you for posting to my page. I alway enjoy the read!
tt
OMG! I just re-read my last post to you.... hope you are good at reading incomplete words and incomplete sentence structure! I guess my brain just moves on before my fingers have had a chance to catch up....
Yes! An "anchor row".... (or two) lol.... that's what I did before the lace! And.... when I finished the bag I did not wash or block.... I figured the pattern would stand out as it was used.... sheesh... I've already forgotten what else I was going to say.... i'm sitting here at the hospital Kip is in surgery... found the most comfortable chair in this waiting room and scrunched down and started knitting....had to get up before 4:00 this morning to get here ( Dallas) for his surgery... (Kip was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago)... I'm no longer the most religious person myself... long story... but anyway I AM a very "spiritual" person ..... (another long story! LOL!) Thank for your thoughts and good intentions... It is appreciated! Can't wait to see everyone elses finished market bags... I've finished two of my own variation since that first one and have tons of ideas for EASY instructions for an EASY knit market bag(s)... okay enough for now...talk soon - tt
Oh gosh... where is my brain? I just realize that was talking about knitting a row before the lace started and everyone else on here was talking about knitting or purling a row before starting the linen stitch ( or woven pattern as KP is calling it).... shoot... I suppose I have now really messed up several people! oh well... with Cheryl and Susan's great advice and links to video etc, I know that the correct information will get to people.... I should actually go back and delete any misleading posts on my part... but yeegads! there is a whole Sh%$- load of posts to wad through at this point... I wish this discussion board were set up a bit differently... oh well....
Greetings....
You are very welcome for the compliments... they are well deserved!
I think I may understand where you are coming from regarding sweater knitting.... for me... it's sort of like knitting socks... I have to do 2 at the same time because I know I will never go back to knit the second one if I only did one at a time.... with sweaters.... I do the back.... then BOTH sides of the front at the same time....even if it requires that I use a ginormous cable (gotta love those 'Denise interchangeable knitting needles'!!!) and then I knit BOTH sleeves at the same time.... I actually enjoy sewing the pieces together... trying new techniques every once and a while!
As far as the "warning label" that should have been printed on this market bag pattern.... maybe it should have said.... "Thanks for purchasing this simple pattern ...now all you knitters out there - see if you can guess where we went wrong!" (It's sort of like deciferring those brain twisters in a MENCA book!) Oh... and you know what.... I think I actually knit instead of purl that first row or two as well, before moving on to the lace... mostly because I had such a heck of a time just turning the corners of the bottom piece and getting it all on one needle.... I actually used one of my small size needles for sock knitting....with a really looooooooong cable!
The sad thing about that whole provisional cast on thing..... people have to get all the way through the bottom square piece BEFORE the issues with the cast on show up..... thus causing a lot of frogging. How frustrating!
As for no brainers... well... I just finished another one a few minutes ago. I will indeed get something put together so I can share these patterns.... they really are mindless pieces that come out looking great! And more importantly... are cheap to make and sturdy to use! This last one utilizes a shorter handle.... for me this has it's place as well as I prefer to not look like a donkey all loaded down with long stretched out bags coming off my shoulders! Lol!
Well I need to regroup here... it was a long night of thunderstorms, high winds and tornado-warning sirens!
Enjoy the day!

I'm madly trying to get this other project done. It's one that just came up and takes priority.
My first KAL was Mr. Foster. Then I got involved in this one. I have so enjoyed seeing everyone's story of giving and its bee therapy to respond to each one. I almost get nervous when emails aren't going crazy showing posts on all the different KALs I've joined.
Professional Photographer living in Southern California. Started to knit a few years ago. Mainly did scarves for gifts, and wanted to do a more challenging project. Started and completed Jared's Hemlock project and turned out great.
Now I am hooked on "lace" . Have done quite a few projects now and consider myself an advanced/intermediate knitter.
