Profile Information

About Me:
I learned to knit when I was about 5 years old, dropped it for years (it wasn't cool to do when I was a teen), and picked it up again about 10 years ago. I'd forgotten much of what I knew, so a lot of it is self-taught. I've discovered socks, and am in love, but also enjoy making other items - hats, mittens, shawls, etc. The whole process amazes me, and the fibers available are incredible. I'm always looking to learn new techniques, after translating them to my left-handed ways. :D

Autumn scheduling

Posted on September 9, 2012 at 9:18am 0 Comments

The last few days, there's been a subtle shift in the air. Even though it is still pretty warm, you can sense that autumn is about to arrive at any moment. Not only is the weather changing, but so is my schedule.

This time of year brings about new happenings, commitments (time to sit down and finish my second book, as well as finally figure out how to format the first one for e-readers!), ticking one more thing off the "bucket list" (I'm about to start fencing lessons, something I've…

Long Weekend = Knitting and Reading

Posted on August 20, 2012 at 6:34am 0 Comments

I'm just coming off a four-day weekend, which has been much needed. Aside from the time to sleep in and cuddle with my cat (yes, I am turning into a Crazy Cat Lady), I did a good bit of knitting and finished two books. I love time off!

The first pair are the Eunice Socks from Cookie A's Sock Innovation. I did these with Gloss in Winter Night, and think they came out very nicely.…

Birthday Celebrations

Posted on August 14, 2012 at 6:30am 0 Comments

No real yarn content today. Instead, I'm dorking out for a moment and celebrating my little furbaby's 17th birthday. Introducing Blaze.

Meet the Lord and Master of the House. He's on a prescription diet, so there won't be any special treats for dinner tonight, but I did get him a snuggly new toy. Being a mature gentlecat, he looks down on the kittenish habit…

Box 'o Yarn

Posted on August 8, 2012 at 6:48am 0 Comments

There's nothing quite like adding to the yarn stash, whether it's from the LYS or a package arriving on the doorstep. I try to knit from my stash whenever possible, just so it doesn't completely take over the house (actually, it's a toss-up between yarn or books as to what's going to force me to start camping out in the back yard!), but sometimes a yarn just calls out and I have to get it.

My last LYS splurge was two skeins of Lobster Pot Cashmere lace in Salt Rose, so I…
