I have been knitting since November of 2007 and love it. Over the years, I have also dabbled in crochet, beading, painting, drawing, writing… the list goes on. Basically, anything that has to do with making/creating something.
If you would like to contact me, please feel free to message me here, on Ravelry, on Twitter, or at EdwardRad@rocketmail.com.
Hi, Ed, Thought to say THANK YOU for your nice comments regarding my latest projects. And I took the opportunity to have a sniff about your projects here and on Ravelry. Looks like you have a good sense of colors and like using them, too. I must say, I've recently found myself looking at my projects thinking they're quite boring and unimaginative. So the next few projects will hopefully a little more colourful.
Well done on all your projects. I love all your socks especially, with all the different variegated yarns and lovely shades.
Is it all sock yarn you're using? Or am I detecting some "normal yarns", too? Makes me think to try some new yarns myself. Somehow, I've got the mindset that I always need to have at least around 500g of any yarn. And with socks that simply not so. So I could try some of the more dear yarns, too :)
I've had to add readers over my contacts since my late 30s. :-( Better to do that than to strain your eyes though! When you dig up your bead work, I'd love to see some of it! Someday, I'll dig up mine too! LOL!
I do like the feel of those beads. :-) I suspect that if I'd learned about beading in my 20s I probably would have been drawn to that sort of beading too. I worked as a nail tech for a number of years and LOVED the detail of that. I've also worked as a technical artist... more detail. But, as my eyes have continued to deteriorate, I just don't enjoy the strain of that sort of thing anymore.
Your shower cloths are more what I would describe as a 'wash cloth' rather than a 'soap holder', but most of the patterns I've seen are for 'soap holder's as you say in your note. I have lots of left-over Cotlin and also some very pretty cotton yarns which would make nice wash cloths, but I've not seen a pattern I really like. My man won't use kitchen dish cloths for anything but semi-pot holders! hahah He says they are too nice to mess up. I'd like to make some nice wash cloths for the guest bathroom and your photos look really pretty. Just curious.
The hat you liked is knit with Imagination Wicked Witch. I loved the colors! The little mitts were the leftovers from the Noro jacket where I lopped out the poison green bits for the lower half in favor of more purples. I love your first sock photo 'in progress'. I'm really impressed. You make me want to use some of the great sock yarns I have slowly accumulated. A neighbor is German-born and going to visit her family. She'll be 'just down the street' from the Opal producers and can get balls of their yarn for the equivalent of about $10 US. Insane. It's double that here. So I gave her my wish list and some Euros and we'll see what she finds.... I recently bought some Shibui sock yarn. It made me laugh out loud to look at it. I decided I needed that kind of 'happy' on my feet! I have lots of the Essential kettle-dyed too and most of the original Imagination yarns. And some Trekking and other Euro yarns that my daughter picked out for her. I always wear socks and they show. I think I need to make some flashy numbers of my own! If all my 'daughter' knitting wasn't calling to me constantly....
My knitting/book friend talked me into going to Columbus for the Knitters Connection workshop. I have classes scheduled with Sally Melville as well as Cat Bordhi and a couple of others whose names escape me. I chose the sock class to move me to a higher level (like actually knitting socks!) and classes on adjusting patterns to fit, seaming, striping.... My man just sends me off with my knitting friend and says have a great time! hahaha She went with me last weekend for the book festival and mini-yarn tour. She lives outside my area so it's a good excuse to get together. She has a Cat Bordhi class coming up in Wisconsin that she's taking on Houdini socks. I think there are single class things all over the place. Maybe you could find something near you. I never looked, but maybe Cat Bordhi has a web site with her class schedule listed. I have been reading 'New Pathways' and find it somewhat confusing to follow.... I'm hoping that the class will clarify it all. My friend took the class last year and says you make lots of tiny socks to work through the different paths for sock knitting architecture. Sounds like fun. It's an all day class so you have lots of time to get into the work. OK, enough for now...

Thanks for all your inspiration :)
I'd like to see your work though, too. :-)
